Question about 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Laredo's but what car? wrangler , Cherokees/.? what?
what engine?, we cant guess engines, and it dont run so......?????
cranks ok. battery charged.,? to 12.6vdc rested?
everyone love to guess, no spark, so crank sensors.... endless post same. and
no that is wrong thinking, ! read on....
1: fuses first. we test them. EFI and spark fuses. all.
2: next we check that CEL lamp glows key on, if not see #1
check engine light glows key on telling you ECU has power.
3: Spark dead on all cylinder,not just one, all.?
if just one , then spark plug shorted or same with wire that feeds it or carbon tracked, distrib cap. ever get a full tuneup this decade?
4: all spark is dead. see #1 and 2 first. and then scan PCM
that is correct 1993+ jeeps all have cheap working over the counter scan tools. scan it, to see if the PCM knows whats wrong
in 90% of cases IT DOES. you';re not looking is why?
crank it for 5 seconds. and it will throw. DTC codes (2 digit) for bad crank or cam or dead ignitors. on all jeeps 1993 to NOW.
it can not see a shorted spark plug.... and that is a tune up part so..
that is all there is, unless PCM cant see the failure. DTC errors.
then you test the coil and make sure the ignitor signals to the spark coil are good and the spark is dead out of actual coil tower.
did you check for spark (using the 100 year old way, and on youtube 10,000 times why?)
the coil must spark or the distributor will be dead.
using the JEEP magic keyon off trick fails with bad spark.
that is because the ECU clears spark errors each key off.
only real scan tools work to find this type of error.
the Innova 3160 , excels here.... rent one?

Keep it simple first disconnect coil wire from distributor leaving coil connected, put a screwdriver in wire place it away from fan or other moving parts such as belt , and crank engine, u shld see spark. if not u found ur problem. coil needs to be replaced

At least take the time to remove your computer connector & check & clean all contacts with battery disconnected, negative first.. Clean good with an electrical cleaner spray can. re-connect then re-connect battery, with negative last.

Crank position sensor has a higher failure rate than it should...however i would not change it "at random" Check for continuity between b&c terminals of the sensor with a digital ohmeter.
There should be no continuity between them (b&c should be marked on connector) No continuity reading is same as when probes are not connected to each other.
I really dislike when people try and help and use terms that owners can't understand ... "check your zxy and qtr then add an abc" dosen't seem helpful. I hope I am as clear as I can be!!!

Replacing the O2 sensors in a large majority of cases is changing the result, not the cause of the problem....Large variations in exhaust quality often are beyond the operating range of the sensor, causing it to throw a code. Sort of like a situation where you are trying to read something but the words are too small to see so you (like the sensor) will say "I can't read this"...nothing wrong with you, So putting another person where you were won't change anything...words are still too small, and they too will not be able to read them.
A code scan and some individual component tests will likely give you an idea what's going on ...either you have too much/too little fuel, or ignition spark is weak. Any of these items have several causes but can change the quality of the exhaust enough to cause your problem.
Largest problem with offering an on-line diagnosis for you is that without the ability to do the testing I suggested, all I could offer would be guesses. (which can lead to expensive mis-diagnosis)

If it is a factory alarm you can't unhook it. Replace the switch attached to the lock cylinder inside the door. In the meantime, the switch on the passenger door may still be good. Cycle the key in the passenger door to see if it turns off the alarm.

Sit on top of transmission bell housing, you can get to it from under the hood, drivers side on top on transmission, held on with 10mm bolt. unplug harness to sensor, remove bolts, and replace.
