SOURCE: 92 corsica wont stay running. cleaned MAF with spray!

the maf on it isnt used a maf only a temp sensor the software change made the syatem speed density controlled fuel.. but if you have a idle probel it may just be the Idle Air Control Motor or IAC try to put foor on the gas pedal a little whne cranking see if it fires right up if so suspect the IAC.. is if still cranks long time try the fuel filter but those usually will make lack of power before you get a hard start issue.

That is a likely cause, recheck that the belt is set to the right marks. Also run a fault code test on the engine module.

I think that you should go to an accredited specialist shop that works on your make vehicle as I think that you may be led up the garden path if you stay with that shop. White smoke can be lean mixture or water but I would suggest a compression test done to check for a head gasket/ cracked head problem before I would consider an engine . I would also run the fault codes to check for EGR valve problems as these are subject to failure around your mileage.

Are you sure you got the timing correct with both heads and the crank shaft, when you installed the timing belt? If wrong, this can cause a no crank/no start situation. As far as the battery and check engine light staying on when key is off, sounds like ignition switch is malfunctioning, or computer. Why did you replace the head gaskets?

1987 toyota pickup with 22r keeps blowing head gasket

Your head bolts are stretched, when it got hot it weakened the metal in the bolts which means that the bolts cannot hold the needed tension on the head. Replace the bolts and you will stop blowing head gaskets. Also use Genuine Toyota head gasket, It will be a bit dearer but they are much better than aftermarket options.

The stop leak most like caused the thermostat to stick closed and caused the over heating which may have blown a head or intake gasket. Have the oil analyzed to see if there is coolant present and if there is you will need to determine which gasket needs replaced. On newer vehicles it's no small job to replace a head or intake gasket os special tools are required.
