SOURCE: Hard to start

You have all the symptoms of a low voltage condition in the battery, Kragen and other parts stores like it will test your battery and charging system (alternator) for free, but it is pretty safe to say the battery is toast. Don't reject this solution without the test being done, I think you will find I am right, low battery voltage can cause trouble codes to be set and low fuel pressure to name a few..

SOURCE: Hard to start warm engine

Sounds like you have a problem with your fuel injectors, either they are working to much or not enough once they get warm....

Take it to a shop ant tell them you want the injectors tested.

SOURCE: rebuilt engine 5.7 l 1998

I broke down and purchased a new crank shaft sensor . It cost $15000 hated to spend it because everbody told me they just don't fail , and why would it when it worked fine before the motor was rebuilt. IT FIXED IT.

SOURCE: Hard Start. It is 32F, Block heater plugged in,

sounds to me like your check valve in fuel line is not working. If you have the original lift pump it located in there.

Can a dirty injector cause a cold engine to be a hard starter ?

yes it can, i had a corvette with the # 6 fuel injector that was bad, it would start up, and run a few seconds , then die, wait a few minutes, crank it again, then sometimes , it wouldn't start, then i would wait a while and try it again, and it would fire up, and run a small amout of time , and then die, i checked the fuel injectors to see which one was not working, and found out that it was the # 6 injector.

My service engine light and trac off light are on

It sounds like you need to replace your computor. You could try resetting the computer first. The car maybe in lockout mode. Try turning your car over….leave the ignition on. Wait exactly 10 min. Then try turning over again….again leave the key on. Wait exactly 10 min and do it a third time….this time the car should start…maybe run a lil rough while it relearns the processes of your vehicle again. It is important to wait the exact 10 min each time. You will probably need a battery charger or a set of jumper cables because if your car goes low during this process it will not work. Good luck and I hope this works.
