SOURCE: auto box issue

I have an applicator chart that says 1992-1996 Diamante only had 3.0 ltr engine available, and the chart also says that the 3.5ltr was only available from 1997-2004.So either my chart is wrong,or you have a LATE 1996 that is actually a 1997.Either way,my chart says the 3.0 ltr engines used an F4A33-1 auto trans and the 3.5ltr's used an F4A51 trans. You ust recheck your vehicle to verify all the specifications.I would rebuild the trans that's in there, but i am a transmission rebuilder.Getting a used trans is kind of iffy,as you may be getting junk or a high mileage trans. As far as interchange, contacting a junkyard is the best way to go as they have interchange manuals.I would try and stay with the same year model and same vehicle. My chart says that the F4A51 also came in 96-05 Eclipse's...will it work in your Diamante?I don't know.I do know that an 05 trans won't work in your 96 model. Best way to go is rebuild your trans,or get one from a remanufacturer like Jasper Engines and Transmissions.

SOURCE: Fly wheel ring gear replacement

You need to pull the tranny out.
Then the flywheel needs to be unbolted from the engine.
if it's an automatic, purchase a new flywheel, if its a clutch, you can have a new ring gear pressed on to the flywheel...

Change the transmission fluid ant if that doesn't work then the transmission needs rebuilt or replaced. If you get on craigslist someone might be selling a transmission for cheap or check the salvage yards.

Not starting

the ring gear on the fly wheel may have damaged teeth or not have the right gear teeth count to be compatible . Pinion teeth have to match the ring gear teeth or they have trouble meshing and that makes it hard to turn over. If the ring gear teeth have been damaged then the gear box will have to come out to get the fly wheel / flex plate off. If it is auto then it is a simple matter of replacing the flex plate . But if manual the ring gear is removed from the flywheel and a new one fitted. Most accredited service shops can do this operation. count the number of teeth on the ring gear and the number on the starter pinion and take the figures to an auto electrician and he will know it they are right.

you need a puller to separate. bearing pulley tool will do the trick. type with 2 arms and a bolt in the middle. watch out as when you undo the part it will bo with a bang and fly in the opposite direction so make sure there is nothing there to get damaged. if you just wanting to change the pulley. put hand brake on chock wheels select first gear then remove the bolt on the pulley.

Whats the best audi tt to go for

It should help with fuel economy, but then it is a 3.2V6, so not sure if that would be a priority?
I would suggest if possible test driving the manual. Some people just don't get on with D.S.G. It is governed by the computer so thinks it knows better than you, and won't at points let you change gear. Usually if your DRIVING it enthusiastically.
If you've driven D.S.G before and liked it then without a shadow of a doubt go for it.
It is a lot of money for a gear box so do your sums on the fuel savings and resale value.
Hope it helps?

Had a noise that stopped when you put foot on clutch ,took car to garage for service told them about noise and small oil leak ,thay did service and told me not to much to worry about noise keep an eye on...

The problem with a noise like that is it could have been just a noisy thrust bearing or something as simple as a worn spigot, both of these problems will rattle for thousands of miles without a problem, in fact they usually out last the car.
You had problem that was unusual, good luck.

Tranny slips occasional on up shift. clunks on 4-3-2-1 downshifts

If your TT is quattro it is DSG, if it is FWD then it is Tiptronic.. A battery change usually requires a trip to the dealer to hook up the scan tool and program the TCU for the transmission...
And yes a lower voltage can affect the sensitive electronics in this car..

The starter is mounetd to the bottom of the engine either left or right of the fly wheel..
Look for the fly wheel.. Really big round gear.. The starter spinns that big gear & turns the motor..
Good luck..
