Question about Dodge Ram 2500

1 Answer

1991 dodge ram van b2500 5.2L v8 no crank, no start condition -- out of the blue since yesterday. wouldn't start on a jump or solenoid knock. ended up shorting power and imput wires together on starter motor while key in run position to get it home..... then started up twice no problem this morning while i was testing it. third time, no luck. went around with a test light, found power @ starter motor on both leads so replaced starter. still no crank! fusible links, battery and ASD relay all sound. Can't seem to locate starter relay so couldn't check that. May be ignition switch? I do have intermittent radio/clock problems (not turning on at all unless van is very warm).

Go to your computer search for fusebox diagrams and find out where the starter relay is, most likely its a square black box inside the under hood black square fuse block.

SOURCE: 1992 Toyota Camry won't crank

Check the ground cable going from the battery to
alternator, then to chassis. Make sure there is no
rust at the chassis ground wire terminal, and that it
is very tight. The fusible link will be off the alternator
red power cable, usually, but not 100% on that car.
Good luck.

To clarify - the engine cranks then starts.
If it won't crank in any gear, I would check the neutral safety switch first.
You can also jumper the starter solenoid to make sure the starter will crank the engine manually without the circuit from the key switch.

1991 dakota intermittently stalls or will not start after being run for 30 minutes or more of running.

When it does this you need to check if you have voltage ( spark ) going to the end of the spark plug wire, but it sound to me like your pick up coil is going bad, pick up coil sit under the distributor cap under the distributor rotor same size as distributor assembly ( black ) cheap$$, good luck, hope this was very helpful.

1999 Dodge Ram Van doesn't start,3500- 1 ton, 5.9- v-8 it's got 158,500 miles, 1) doesn't start 2) No spark (Condition: Good fuel pressure)

I'm not familiar with dodge but I know Ford's and GM's have ignition modules that go out and you lose spark.

Turn key to start get "click" after several "clicks" car starts

the click is caused by the contacts in the starter solenoid being burned and erroded, your truck has a Japanese starter and this is the problem they have most often, and always the give away is the click. U can replace the contacts or the starter solenoid.

I have a 1990 Dodge Ram B250 conversion van the problem is the check engine light is on ran computer code to find out the problem. the engine is a 318 have a problem with the charging system have replaced...

the numbers are 12, 41, 55
12- direct batttery inut to controller disconnected within last 50 ingnition key-on cycles
41- alternator field circuit- an open or shrted condition detected in the alternator control circuit.
55- final code - indicates the end of the scan codes

I've replaced the alternator and checked all the wiring still can't find the solution. I've posted to find out if the alternator control circuit can be repaired.
