A speed sensor failure in the rear axel housing has damaged friction plates in the differential (limited slip). This axel should have had oil serviced at 80,000 miles
Disabling the light doesn't fix the problem, you should have this diagnosed by connecting a diagnostic code reader that can communicate with the traction control system, then go from there.
www.automotiveforums.com > ... > Toyota > SequoiaTraction Control System Problems Sequoia Car Forums. ... The VSC/ATRAC indicator lights are staying on and the system will inadvertantly ..... giving a bad reading following the replacement of the steering angle sensor with a new one.
set the mileage when the odometer is showing. put the key to off position. press and hold the reset button then turn the key to on position, do not start. then continue holding the reset button until the reading stops to zero or blank. turn it off, that should reset the light indicator
The computer turns your traction control off when it sets the check engine light. Thats why VSC lights come on at the same time. Have the local parts store see what code you are getting to find the problem.
You have to know what code is stored to fix the problem. Toyota's will generally display a Check Engine light, VSC and TRAC light all at the same time, even if it's a simple problem with an oxygen sensor (for example). You can disconnect the negative battery cable for a few minutes, even though you should a scan tool should be used, to clear out the code.
I did research on line and all indicates that is caused by the YAW RATE SENSOR. It nedds to be replace and adjust. I have the same problem but havent find the time to get to it. When I do I will post it. If you do it before I do please email me with the result at [email protected]
Good luck
If your vehicle has similar controls like my 2006 Sequia. put the ignition in the ON position... then press the Tire Pressure Monitor Reset button (it is located on the dashboard button right beneath the streering wheel column).. press it for 4 to 5 seconds till you see the pressure monitor light come on and then go off. That should reset the system.
