Cone filter without a crank case ventilator adaptor

If you try a speed shop spares you may find an adaptor for this update . I would check very carefully the micro particle rating of the cone filter and if it is bigger particle than the original air filter I would bin it as it will damage the motor from dust that will get through it.. Looks "smick" but some are not practical

I replaced my fuel filter and fuel pump and it ran great for a month now its bogging down again when accelerate whats wrong

I suspect that you have rust/particles in your gas tank that is being sucked up by your fuel pump and collecting in the fuel filter, blocking fuel flow. When the vehicle is at low RPMs, the rust particles settle to the bottom of the filter, allowing some fuel to pass. When you accelerate, the fuel flow jams the particles against the outlet, and blocks fuel flow. Change the fuel filter again.

I suspect that the alcohol laced fuel that is mandated now is the problem as alcohol is highly hydroscopic and releases water into the fuel sitting in the tank (metal)and causes rust. you may have to devise a method to **** all of the fuel out of your tank, and hope that all of the gunk comes with it.

Where is the gas filter?

A gas filter is also called a fuel filter. A car's fuel filter is located along the fuel lines, either in the engine compartment or underneath the car by the fuel tank. It is the responsibility of the fuel filter to trap large particles in the fuel in order to prevent them from getting into the engine.

Its been in for electrical work, now it just seems to lose all power and slowly die. this morning it kind of caught it self picked back up and kept going but after that it died totaly i can usualy restart...

Have you checked or changed your fuel filter lately. The particles in the filter dam up while the engine is running. When it stalls, all the particles fall back away from the outlet so the engine will start again allowing the particles to dam up...etc etc.

My work colleague has a ford focus zetec 1.5 and seems slugish when she starts the car up and has been driving a while and she has had her car engine cleaned and they found particles in the engine but the...

The fuel filter must be changed every 30000 miles along with the air filter. You dont say how many miles are on the car so its hard to tell you further. I would change the oil after 1000 miles a couple of times useing a Fram oil filter to help remove the particles. And use Castrol oil.I dont know who is doing the oil and filter changes or if they are getting changed. If so they might be useing junk oil and junk filters.

Particles filter

The DPF (diesel particulate filter) will require regeneration. This is a filter inside the catalytic convertor which has to be really really hot to regenerate on its own. Try running the car as normal for 15 minutes to normal operating temp, then drive it for 3 or 4 miles in 2nd or 3rd gear at 4 or 5000 revs and this will heat up the catatlyst and MAY regenerate, if not your saab dealer will need to do it with their diagnostic machine.
Cars with DFP's need to have a good rev out run weekly to avoid this happening again. Also make sure you are using the correct engine oil spec when servicing as this can casue issues with it.

Did you replace the fuel filter? Sometimes the fuel filter will have particles in it which when under pressure will sit against the filter media and slow down or stop the flow of fuel. when this occurs your fuel pressure drops and is inadequate to run the injection system. when the key is turned off, the fuel pump stops and the fuel pressure is reduced allowing the particles to settle to another position in the filter. Once the particles have settled the fuel will flow until the particles are agitated, either by fuel flow or driving vibrations causing them to plug the filter again and starving the injection system of fuel. I'm just guessing, but this may be your problem. I had a similar problem in a suburban. Come to find out the fuel in my area has higher than normal particulate, or is dirty. The dealer recommendation was to change fuel filter every 5000 miles. hope this helps
