The brake switch is located in a threaded mount above the pedal itself. Optionally, it is screwed into a T piece with a vacuum valve for cruise control.

No brake lights

First you should check the bulbs in the break lights to ensure that they are still good bulbs. After that you should check the fuse that controls the break lights. If both are good then you should check your break light switch, This switch is located above the break pedal. When you step on the break it pushed down onto this switch. If the switch has fallen out of place or has gone bad you will need to replace it.

behind break pedal there is a brake light switch that works when pedal is pushed down. the switch may be out of adjustment or is bad! it should be located behind top of break pedal.

When you replaced the brake light switch did you adjust it so that it contacts when it should?
It isn't enough to just replace it, you need to adjust the pedal height to specifications in order to make the brake lights work correctly.

Brake lights not working. Niether stop lamps or overhead brake light bar work. All other rear lights work. Fuses for both lights are OK.

The most common problem for this fix is a New Replacment Brake Light Switch. It is located and mounted to the brake pedal assembly.

Please help.I have a 2005 Dodge Caravan. When I start the van the rear break lights would turned on automatically. When I step on the break the lights stays the same,no indication of breaking from the rear...

You have a bad break switch. It is located under your dash, above your break pedal. The stem of your break pedal, when pushed down, activates the break switch. When you push, the break light comes on. It is chrome looking. It is a round cylinder. That should fix you up. If you need anything else, please let me know. Thank you for choosing FixYa.

My brake lights don't work. I've changed the bulbs & checked the fuse. any ideas?

You could check the brakelight switch located on the brake pedal linkage. Sometimes they move out of adjustment, sometimes they fail. The ones I've seen are usually plastic and the threads strip off so the jamb nut won't hold the switch in place correctly. It should be round (or at least the part with the mounting nut should be round) with a plug with 2 or 3 wires going into the back and located so that the brake pedal lever moves away from the switch when you push on the pedal. If you deem that it needs to be replaced the switch should be available at most auto parts stores.
