Question about Jeep Wrangler
Pulled it out of garage and put into park and then niw it won't go into gear, gear shift will move but not changing on dash board
Wow no year.
sounds like the tranny shift cable let go.
why not look at actual tranny while person , shifts.?
i fit under mine, neat, if you can fit , use jack stands. never a jack to
crawl under any car.
or park car on a curb alllowing safe crawls under.
the dash display shows the status of the PRNDL switch
on side of tranny, seems yours dont move, to me.
if not the cable is not connected. (clips or snap cable)

there is a safety device that prevents putting the gear shift in park without the brakes pressed(saves park in your transmission so it isnt stripped accidently) it could be broke

I had the same problem but my cousing, who is a mechanic, opened the whole thing up and removed the safety catch. Now, this is not the best of ideas because the car will shift now without your foot being on the brake but I have had it this way for a while and no troubles shifting in or out anymore.

The end of the shift cable has broken, there is a plastic ring at the transmission end of the cable that breaks. You will need to have it towed to the mechanic.
