Test ignition coil

OKAY, car started to sputter at about quarter to half throttle so I used the obsd it gave me code 2-1-4 (vss intermittent) after two hours completed all the tests my manual said to do, everything checked out I ws wondering if any one knew the ohms readings for the coil. (I plan on buying a knew vehicle speed sensor tomorrow just in-case it is that)

Vehicle speed sensors your problem. Engine and transmission management system need to know if the car is moving and how fast to make decisions on how much timing advance, fuel and which gear to select. You are wasting your time with the coil.

SOURCE: 2001 Volvo S60 2.4T starting problem

This car won't start unless the gear is in the P position. Some times the sensor that tells the computer that the gear is in the P position doesn't make a good contact and the car won't start. Move the gear backwards and forwards until it makes a good contact and the car will start again.

Spark Plug Wire Resistance
9 686 ohms per meter (3,000 ohms per foot)
Important: : Spraying the secondary ignition wires with a light mist of water may help locate an intermittent problem. Ignition voltage will arc to ground when a secondary component is faulty.

-
Defective ignition module

-
Ignition system wiring--Loose ignition module feed or ground connection, or damaged system wiring

?€¢
Remove spark plugs and inspect for the following conditions:

-
Fouled plugs

-
Cracks

-
Wear

-
Improper gap

-
Burned or damaged electrodes

-
Improper heat range or reach

?€¢
If spark plugs are gas or oil fouled, the cause of the fouling must be determined before replacing the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Inspection .

Bad coil pack

If your truck has spark plug wires, you will want to change those as well, as a bad wire can cause an ignition coil to short itself out internally.

The PO 316 is still misfires om first 1000 revolutions
so the shop did a poor job for you on resolveing the
cylinder misfires

Try a diffferent shop

Have to clean the MAF Sensor & replace upstream
oxygen sensors if over 100,000 miles

Need the correct oem spark spark plugs/any brand

No reason the gas filter should be clogged unless it was in
the car for 10 years

Fuel pressure should be checked

Need to check for cylinder misfires on a road test of 20
miles or more with professional software in Mode#06

po700 code just means you have codes
P0351-IGNITION COIL #1 PRIMARY CIRCUIT

WHEN MONITORED
With battery voltage greater than 8 volts during engine cranking or greater than 13 volts with engine running. Engine RPM less than 3000. No coil in dwell during test.

SET CONDITION
Peak current is not achieved with battery based dwell plus 1.5 msec of diagnostic offset. It takes less than 3 seconds during cranking or up to 6 seconds while running to set.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Ignition coil
- Intermittent condition
- ASD relay output circuit
- Ignition coil driver circuit open
- Ignition coil driver circuit shorted to ground
- PCM

P0352-IGNITION COIL #2 PRIMARY CIRCUIT

I am having two issues with my 2001 Ford Taur, the first is a code of P0715 and the other is P0302. We have replaced spark plugs, fuel filter, oil change and the car still sputters and is very hesitant....

P0302 code is a mifire for cyl #2, Check the ignition coil for the number 2 cylinder.
P0715 Turbine Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction - With Automatic Transmission
Possible Causes Setting Conditions
* TSS connector is damaged (check pins for damage, and for moisture)
* TSS signal circuit is open, shorted to ground or shorted to voltage
* TSS has failed
* PCM (Powertrain Control Module) has failed

To test the ignition coil for the P0302 code
Turn the ignition OFF
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Disconnect the wiring harness from the ignition coil.
Check for dirt, corrosion or damage on the terminals and repair as necessary. Measure coil primary resistance between ignition coil pin 4 (B+) and pins 1 (coil 2), 2 (coil 3) and 3 (coil 1)Resistance should be 0.3-1.0 ohms. If resistance is out of specifications, replace the coil pack. If resistance is within specifications, proceed to secondary windings testing.

I have a 2001 dodge durango 5.9lL and it wont start. I can hear the fuel pump when I turn the key half way but when I turn it all the way the starter turns but the engine wont turn over

It sounds like you are not getting spark from the spark plugs. The ignition coil controls the spark. The crank sensor also controls the spark. If I had to guess I would say test or replace the ignition coil. If tests okay i would do a resistance test on crank sensor. But at my shop I have seen many Ignition coils go bad.

Runs smooth cold, sputters after about 2 minutes,

You might want to pull the coils and ignition control module. They are really easy to get to on this car, right on the front of the block. Ignition control modules can be tested electronically at most chain parts stores. Coil can be a bit more of a pain. Quite honestly it's very rare that any that I test, even the ones that I know are bad, test bad. Sometimes the coil windings spoil out and when they get hot they swell and no longer produce spark.

Is this a problem only in idle? Is it drivable and if so what happens then?
