SOURCE: need the cylinder head torque settings on a toyota

Tighten in several passes to 44 foot pounds.

I just wanted to add. Since this is an aluminum cylinder head, I hope you loosened the head in the loosening torque pattern. The pattern opposite of the torque tightening pattern. If not, you stand the chance of warping the head.

Again, since it's an aluminum head, it needs to be checked for flatness. Most aluminum heads need to be surfaced before re-installing.

Tightening torque pattern is as follows:

1.The Drivers side of the engine is the Left side.
From the Front going towards the back; the bolts are numbered 10, 6, 1, 3, and 7.
From the Front going towards the back on the Passenger side; the bolts are numbered 8, 4, 2, 5, and 9.

The Exhaust and Intake Camshaft Bearing Cap bolts go to 9 foot pounds. Tighten gradually. One bolt to the other with so many foot pounds, work back, and forth up to 9lbs.

Camshaft Timing Pulley bolts go to 43 foot pounds. (In a tightening sequence, and gradually)

Just got a gasket kit for a 1990 liberty 2.2ltr, how do you relace the head gasket with an overhead cam looks scary

The best thing to do is get either a copy of the Haynes manual for your car or sign on to "alldatadiy.com". Both cover this type of repair quite well. Alldata is very car model specific so it will only be your car and engine that it covers. Both will include any special actions that are required. For example, the head bolts on a VW engine need to be removed in a certain order or the head will crack. Read the section through before you start to take your engine apart.

You will also need to have a torque wrench to reassemble the engine. A decent one will run you about $50. Don't cheap out on this, tourque is critical. The one on sale for $29.95 can cost you big time before you are done. The best type will have a screw in device on the handle to let you set the tourque. Just remember to loosen it off when you are done or you will ruin it for the next time. Hope this helps.

4g67 head tourqe settings

Hi,

Just to add to previous solution...

Assuming your head is straight & without defects, ensure you follow the correct tightening sequence diagram (see numbers) below:

Front of engine

i e
n 10 8 x
t h
a 4 6 a
k u
e 2 1 s
t
5 3
s s
i 7 9 i
d d
e e

1) Apply a small amount of engine oil to the thread section of the bolt and install so the chamfer of the washer faces upward.

2) In the proper tightening sequence (as shown above), torque bolts initially to 22 ft.lbs. (30Nm)

3) In the proper tightening sequence, now torque bolts to 45 ft.lbs. (61Nm)

4) In the proper tightening sequence, finally torque bolts to 68 ft.lbs. (92Nm)

Now you can Install the Camshaft sprocket and tighten it to 65 ft.lbs. (90Nm), while holding sprocket in place using the correct wrench.

Confirm proper timing mark alignment.

Cheers,

Hi I'm looking for cylinder head torque settings for a 1992 BMW 316/318 e36

BMW cylinder torque setting all models

According to my service manual as follows.

Cyl head to engine block (torx e12 M10 bolts)

Stage 1 30nm (22 ft – lb)
Stage 2 + 90 degrees
Stage 3 + 90 degrees

Cyl head to lower timing chain cover 10nm (89in – lb)

The tightening sequence is from inside to outside crossover as normal. Loosening sequence is from outside to inside crossover. Remember to set torque wrench at low setting and work gradually up through the whole sequence until you get the desired torque.
