SOURCE: cant remove the headlight assembly from a 1998

You have to basically remove the bumper cover in order to do this.
You will need a 10mm socket with a couple extensions and a phillips screwdriver.
First remove the plastic shield inside the wheel well using the phillips screwdriver.
There are 3 10mm bolts that have to be removed the attach the bumper cover to the fender. The first one is just inside the newly uncovered hole. For the other 2 you will need the extensions. They are located all the way back in the hole beside the headlight assembly. If you look in with a flashlight You will see 3 bolts down in there. One of them will have a 1/2 inch spacer on it. Do not worry about this bolt, it holds the header panel on. The other 2 bolts are the ones you need to remove. Once this is done, if you need to remove the bolts under the hood that hold the bumper cover on the header panel. You should now have adequate movement to move the bumper cover out of the way of the 3 10mm bolts on the headlight assembly that were blocked.

SOURCE: Replaced cooling fan ,cooling fan relay, and 40

Did you check the parts before replacement? Check if there is power supply to the fan when engine is hot and the fan should start. Also check the temperature sensor or the automatic fan switch located below the radiator, it may be faulty.

How to remove the pick-up coil of a 1989 GM 350

Not sure about yours, but on a lot of them you have to partially dissemble the distributor. Not that hard, just drive out the roll pin on the bottom gear with a punch, and slide off the gear. Now dist. shaft can be pulled out from the top. That's about it. Remove and replace pick-up coil.
Good luck.

How do you replace a ignition modulel on a 1977 ford f150 m in the distributer

On the 1977 the ignition module is an aluminum box that should be mounted somewhere in the engine compartment. The ignition pick-up is mounted inside the distributor and you must remove the drive gear from the shaft in order to pull the shaft out and slide the pick-up off the hub of the distributor. This is not an easy job and most people try replacing the module first as it is usually the problem.

Ford focus 2002, 2 litres, what is the function of the pick up coil

The pick up coil is located at the base of the distributor and plugs into the ignition module. The pick up coil's purpose is to sense or "pick up" the pulses of the distributor and tell the ignition module when to fire the spark plugs. The most critical part of the replacement of the pick up coil is to make certain you properly mark the orientation of the distributor to the engine block and the rotor to the distributor base. When you successfully make these markings, you will not need to check your timing when this job is finished. Keeping this in mind, here we go: You will need to purchase a replacement pickup coil and a rubber o-ring gasket that will replace the o-ring located where the distributor shaft enters the engine before you start this project.

Replace module on dist also relace coil engine starts with a power boost from a outside source but will not start without a boost battery seems ok

Try the "Pick Up Coil" its located inside the distributor, you will have to disassemble distributor to replace it, if you don't want to deal with the hassle just replace the distributor with a used one. I have a 1990 f-150 that was having the same problem, after replacing several parts I finally found the problem, Pick Up Coil. Good Luck.

I want to know how to remove the pick up coil from my 1991 caprice distributor in a 305 engine

Hi, In order to remove the pick up coil, the distributor must be removed, once out, take the roll pin out of the gear, and the shaft of the distributor will slide out. Once the shaft is out, the pick up coil can easily be removed , or replaced. Before you remove the distributor, you should put the engine on #1 TDC to keep time.
Good luck...Coop

Have replaced Fuel pump on frame, fuel filter, Distributor cap and rotor and ignition control module. Engine still cuts off after awhile. when it cools it will run for awhile in 2nd gear, if I shift to 3rd...

Check under the distributor cap and look at the connector where the ignition module connects to the pick-up coil/stator, and if it is dark or burnt looking then replace the pick-up coil/stator or the entire distributor. Here is an image of the ignition pick-up coil/stator and you will notice the white connector, and when that connector becomes dark or burnt looking then the pick-up coil/stator is faulty.

Why my 1989 crown vic 5.0 after driveing and gets good and warm engine will die after it cools it will do same over after it warms back up i replaced the coil but no change

It could be the ignition control module, bolted to the side of the distributor. Also check the pick up coil in the distributor.

Engine turns over but no spark at the plugs. checked coil ok changed ignition moudle no luck changed rotor no luck. checked voltage from coil to cap getting 12vdc. checked voltage going to and coming out...

You can change pick-up coil, you need to remove distributor (mark where rotor is pointing first) Then you need to remove pin in cam gear on end of shaft to remove gear so you can remove shaft from housing. Then you can replace pick-up coil. Install in reverse. Note when removing distributor rotor will move to the right as you lift distributor out, move rotor to right of mark you made when installing distributor back in.

1989 ford pick-up,no spark comming from ignition coil. Have changed ignition coil, roterand cap, still no spark. Would you have any suggestions of what to check next?

From a few years experience with these trucks the next most common problem is the ignition module(on the distributor) or the pickup coil. The pickup coil is inside the distributor and it is necessary to remove the distributor and it's shaft to change it.
