2000 chev silverado 1500 5.3 liter alternator keeps going bad

i believe there are 2 alternator's for that 5.3 i think you need the one with the higher amps. I had the same problem and went with the higher amp alternator and i have not had a problem that was 3 years ago.

My mother has a 2006 LS 430 Lexus with only 5500 miles. The battery dying is a constant issue. She goes to start the car and it is dead. She has replaced the battery three times. No electrics are left on....

It sounds like the Alternator is bad or isn't charging teh battery completely. Or if this is the same station that has been selling her batteries they have a bad batch of weak batteries. Have the battery tested for dead cells. If there are none then put it on a charge and fully charge it and test the alternator. Auto zone can test both and will do so for free but you will have to remove the alternator for testing.

My battery keeps going dead

If this happens while driving, you have a charging system problem. With a multi meter connected to battery(red+ black-) check alternator output, it should be 13v or better.
If it's dead after sitting a spell and your batt. is 4-5 years old, it may be time for a new one.
Also you might have a draw, (somthing stays on) use a 12v test light, disconect 1 batt. terminal and clip 1
end to the terminal and touch the other end to batt.
post. With everything off,(remove bulb on hood) key
in your pocket, see if test light comes on.
If it comes on you have a draw. pull 1 fuse at a time
(remove+replace)until light goes out. When it goes out
the last fuse you pulled is for the circut with the draw.
If you have any aftermarket electronics radio/alarm/ or
remote starter check them 1st.
Also most auto parts stores napa/advance/or autozone will test your battery and alternator free.
Hope this helps. Good luck

1995 JEEP CHEROKEE WITH WIRING PROBLEM

u need the alternator retested, it is also possible your battery has a dead cell... if you have access to an ammeter, check the draw on the ground side... if it is less that an amp or so, the problem lies in the alt. or batt.

1983 ford bronco 302 engine wont stay running after jumped

keep in mind, your engine use both source of power to run, one from the battery and one form alternator. If the alternator is good, your engine should stay running regardless if the battery is good or bad, the alternator should keep the engine running. It sound like to me the alternator is faulty not charging your battery or keeping your engine running, even though the alternator is brand new does not mean is good. My guess I would take the alternator back and get another one. the reason why your car ran for 25 min and die it has no source of power to keep the sparks going although the alternator should keep the engine running and at the same time charging the battery but is not.

Good batt & new alternator.. but battery keeps losing charge

Make sure all connections at alternator are attached. On some, the regulator is inside the computer and if bad, requires computer change.

Dead Batt (poss. Alternator?)

Likely you did this already but check fuses in power distribution box near battery (likely two 60a fuses for alt in there). Additionally, was alternator regulator tested or was alt "full fielded" for test. (regulator failure will prevent power made at alt from reaching the battery). Also, check continuity of leads going to alternator to make sure they're OK.
