SOURCE: I got low vacuum light on a 1995 mitsubishi fuso

This has to be a diesel engine, you will have a belt drive vaccum pump to operate your hyd brakes, either you belt is loose, or your intake is plugged or you pump is just getting tired, but also check all your hose you might have a leak,I hope this helps and thanks for useing fixya

SOURCE: Transmission will not switch from drive to overdrive.

******** -- Your transmission is NOT necessarily "shot" if this is a 45 RFE or 545RFE or 68 RFE this condition "may" be caused by a very simple issue that is very simple (and relatively cheap) that you can try BEFORE you throw the baby out with the bath water.
First get a transco SK 45 RFE shift kit ($ 45.00) will fit all the transmissions listed above and the instructions in the kit will say so. then get a filter kit (if you haven;t changed the filters in a year or so and MOPAR +4 ****** fluid 6.5 liters.

had the same problem it was a broken OD accumulator piston spring in the valve body. Just use a transco SK 45RFE shift kit it comes with all the accumulator piston seals an updated and much thicker and stronger accumulator retainer plate AND the kit includes a "spare" set of accumulator springs (1 large & 1 small) in case the spring(s) are broken ,which they do from timt to time. It is only 6 bolts to remove the valve body (carefully) and 7 screws to remove the accumulator plate to access the accumulator pistons and springs. The instructions included in the kit are excellent and very straight forword, you won't need all of the parts but save them they may come in handy some day later.

If the heater coil was disconnected, would that make the truck overheat?

Doubt it.
Could be things like an exhaust restriction or flow problem in the block.
You could connect the heater hoses with a piece of pipe to test the theory.

your truck has gone to limp mode probably because of driving the truck for to long with the dpf light on without performing the dpf regeneration, the only way i know possible to use a diagnostic equipment, probably a MUT3 and have the ecu reset and perform a force regeneration afterwards, thats the only way i know possible
