Backfires upon initial starting.

2013 Hyundai Tuscon backfires and check engine light comes on. Backfiring is only during the first few minutes of operation. After it warms up a few minutes, it runs ok. Local Hyuandi deal had it for over 2 weeks and can't find a problem or fix it.

SOURCE: Jeep GCL Backfires Stalls

Aaron, I had the same problem. It is the most expensive part of course the computer. I replaced everything as well till I replaced it. They are remanufactured and have had problems with them as well. I am on my third one now at 200k miles. Oh and by the way it does not show up on the diagnostic check. Good luck

SOURCE: engine stalls, check engine light, not fuel filter.

the white smoke as it stalls could be steam in the exhaust. This is caused by coolant leaking into cylinders from a leaking head gasket. You should check cylinder compression next with a compression tester.

SOURCE: What would make my 1999 Chevy Blazer 4x4 with a 4.3L Vortec engine suddenly start backfiring?

I know there are a lot of solutions here but I would concentrate on a couple of known issues for the 99 4.3l engine. Remove the distributor cap and rotor, check the reluctor wheel under the rotor and make sure it is not loose on the distributor shaft. The other issue is a worn distributor gear, you will notice a lot of freeplay when you try rotating the distributor rotor back and forth.
Last but not least, spray the inside of the distributor cap, the rotor and the inside of the distributor, this will remove and prevent moisture build up causing the backfire issue you are experiencing...
Good luck.

SOURCE: Sudden loss of power, Backfiring, starts then stalls

The car still runs and drives, just no power and shakes badly during acceleration. Could the timing belt have jumped? Could this happen while driving yet the car still runs?

2013 Hyundai 1.8 liter won't start won't even fire got fuel and spark not backfiring when tryin to start changed sensors

You didn't say what sensors you changed. Your check engine light should be on. If you were to get hold of a scanner it would tell you what the problem was. I will guess that you need a crankshaft sensor.

'68 Plymouth 318 4 brl carb is popping and backfiring. What could be the problem?

Cranking at a slower speed is often a sign of being out of time. That might explain the popping and backfiring, too. You need to use a timing light. Make sure it is set to specs. If it is set at the correct time, and the advance is working (you can check that also with the timing light), and the problem still exists, then I would recommend doing a compression test of the cylinders, to spot any problem with the engine's mechanical condition.

When you put new points on, did you also use a new condenser? You certainly should. And since the points burnt out, how about the spark plugs, do they need changing as well? Part of a tune-up is to make sure the gap on the spark plugs is correct.

If you are inclined to work on your car, buy a vacuum gauge for just a few dollars. These are real handy for the older cars. Here is a link on how useful it can be:
hmm, little difficulty...go to secondchancegarage.com , look at their menu and choose "How to Use and Interpret a Vacuum Gauge". A neat little tutorial on what you can see from a vacuum reading.

Backfiring and decleration on my 2005 buick rendezvous

Do you have a SES (Service Engine Soon) light on? Why did you replace the regulator? What were the fuel pressures before and after the replacement? Did you accidentally disconnect a sensor wire or vacuum hose during the repair?

Chevy venture stalled

Compression, spark , timing , fuel for any engine to run. Don't forget a stopped up catalytic convertor will have the same effect as you described. Backfiring of course is fouled plugs, bad plug wires, look for arcing from wires when it is dark outside. If it has a distributor check for cracked cap, had my 91 GMC start backfiring then die due to ignition module inside distributor going bad. It would start back up after it cooled for about 10 minutes.

2003 Hyundai Elantra can the car fail inspection if your check engine light came on a few times in the last month and 1/2. The light didn't stay on long though Will spark plugs making a backfiring noise...

Until you verify which codes occured, your guess is as good as mine. Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on.
You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE and perhaps eventually fix the problem.

Sudden loss of power, Backfiring, starts then stalls

Your timing belt could be broken. You want to have this checked as soon as possible to prevent any further engine problems.
