How do I remove the distributor cap from a 1991 Eagle Talon?

I pressure washed the engine (I covered all the electrical parts with plastic...I thought)I started it after the pressure wash and let it run..it shut off & I haven't been able to start it since; it turns over, but won't fire.

simple!!!!!! pull the old one out and install the new one reverse of the disasembly. if that is to hard take it to a mechanic. besides that the water pump is on the opposite side of the timeing belt. the timeing belt doesnt cover any of the bolts for the water pump.

SOURCE: 1995 eagle talon wont start

Hi

You did not specify if its petrol or Diesel I am assuming it is diesel. It might be the glow plugs. Get them checked as you will need these to get it started. If its petrol its a different issue. It might be the ignition coil (no spark) coming to the distributor. Whichever the type of car make sure that there is fuel coming to the engine. In the case of diesel you should have a primer rubber fuel pump which you press in order to bring fuel to the engine.

Hope this was of help to you :)
Thanks

SOURCE: new battery but 1990 eagle talon won't start

Theres so many things that can cause a car not to start, can you smell petrol after trying to start? if so start with checking the spark side of things, if you dont smell gas find the fuel filter and follow the fuel hose to the fuel rail and squeeze the hose while some one turns the ignition on without starting. You should feel the hose expand when the ignition is turned to the on position, if it does then the fuel pump is doing its job. Like i said it could be alot of things but this is a good place to start. Is it multi coil set up?

My 1991 eagle talon will crank but has no firer i have changed the coile pack and still no spark

Have you checked inside the distributor cap? Sometimes on older vehicles the seal will go bad and allow moisture in and corrode the contacts just enough to not allow a spark. Try taking some brake cleaner or simply wiping off the corrosion and putting the cap back on. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Fuse location for pop up lights on a 1991 Eagle

It should be located in the distribution box, also called the power box. It is a black box loxated under the hood. And you have to remove the cover. Underneath the cover it will tell you what each fuse is for, If for some reason it doesn't it will tell you in the manual. Good Luck

Starting

Hi,

Initially, pls check:
  • ECU;
  • cam/crank position sensor;
  • ignition module, distributor, rotor, distributor cap;
  • alarm, security and/or immobilizer.
Try checking likewise the electrical connectors and verify that your ignition system is receiving +12VDC when the ignition switch is turned to ON.

Worst case scenario is timing belt

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
