It is very hard to answer you question, when I don't know what control module you are looking for. Like, what Model is it, what engine size, Is the module for the engine, 4 wheel drive, emission control, is it Automatic,or standard.
Give me just a little more to go on and maybe I can help.

Thanks

Cen-Tech Mod.99722. I plugged it into 2001 Ford Ran. It would not work. I tried it in a 1996 Ford Ranger, it turned on immediately.Tried it again in the 2001 still would not turn on.

Is it a computer, plugged to the DLC? Runs off power from the DLC? If so check power to the DLC. Most power for the DLC comes from he cigarette /power point fuses.

Wont start without starter fluid

it is the ignition module or a failed coil . It the spark is faster than cranking speed then it is most likely the module.

1994 Ford Ranger Starts runs for 3-4 minutes then dies, changed ignition mod, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pump relay, checked vac hoses, totally lost!!!!!

As with any no-start or stall problem you will need to figure out if it is a fuel or ignition issue.
The high idle usually means you have a vac leak or a problem with the throttle body or idle air control valve. The control valve is how the computer controls the idle speed.
You'll need to watch the fuel system and spark to see which is being affected when the engine dies.
You might want to hook a test light up to the coil to see if it is loosing voltage for example.

Wondering if I can take a 3.0 engine and turn it straight?

assuming it is a 3.0 OHV then sure, you can get a trans from a ranger

however, mods will be extensive and costly
you will have to mod the bulk head, subframe, tunnel, exhaust, rear end adding a diff

but if you want anything is possible!

Performance Chips

any modification has some degree of danger to it, but as long as it is installed correctly. there shouldn't be any danger. just keep in mind the limits of your vehicle. case in point by brother bought my dad a bully dog mod for a 06 ford f150 fx4. great system and will provide major gas and towing improvements but my dad mr computer illiterate just went and hooked it up without updating the mod controller....fried the computer in the truck. covered under warrenty with a few little white lies but still a 2400 dollar lesson that didnt needed to happen. final note just make sure you follor the instruction and if need be call the mod manufacturer if you have to.

good luck
