Question about 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Filling up with gas will keep stoping the gun

Every time i try to fill the car up i have to sit with the gun (which i should do anyways) But i have to do so because the 'gun' will keep getting kicked back like the tank is full. It will do this varying from every 10 seconds for 2-7 times in a row or once every minute or so. So where filling a normal car with $40 takes about 2-4 minutes it will take me about 10 minutes cause I have to CONSTANTLY restart the gun. Whats going on with my car?

The most common cause is a venting problem in the tank, or a blockage in the filler pipe.

SOURCE: doesnt always start, but lights, radio, AC/heat does come on.

First place to check is the battery. Old ones can push your lights , radio, etc, but the starter is the real load. . Can verify this by using jumper cables to a running vehicle and watch your machine fire right up! The reason mornings are the worst, is the battery has had the most time to discharge, and it is probably cooler outside.

SOURCE: I have a 98 oldsmobile cutlass that won't take gas.

i had this exact problem i tried a different gas station and gas went right in also try using a 5 gallon gas can to fill it you may have a vent that needs attention on the tank therefore air not escaping as your filling is preventing gas from going in the tank

SOURCE: When I go to put

You have a problem with your tank vent system. Have that looked at, there might be a blocked or kinked pipe somewhere.

2002hyundai gas filling problem

The shape of the fill tube to your tank is no longer adequately sized for the new high speed pumps at stations, it is most likely creating splashing in the tube which activates the safety switch on the handle to shut off the pump to prevent accidental over filling and spilling of fuel. Next time insert the handle into your vehicle upside down and this should prevent the problem you are experiencing.

Hyundai sonata 2003 when filling with gas, the pump will shut off as if the tank is full. Every time, everywhere

Try angling the gas pump handle at a differnt angle than just up and down, also try pulling the neck out during filling.... also if you have time go to the dealer and tell them and show service what is going on during filling, maybe they have a technique for filling.

Gas tank is always refusing to take gas.

Its a vapor have to fill it up and it will go away or I've seen people drive in circles at the gas station trying to get it to release.

What would cause my Hyundai Santa Fe to start hard every time I put fuel in the tank? It doesn't mater if I just put a couple of gallons in or fill it up.

First sign of pump going bad when it is being filled fuel swirls the dirt around in the tank and when you go to start it it is hard. after the pump is running it runs fine til the next time.

When i try to put gas to my pacifica it keeps stoping and it is giving me a hard time to put gas. I ask someone and they told me it is a sensor that goes inside the gas tank

No i do not believe that is it at all. Has it always done it with this vehicle, if so your most likely problem is just simply the screen in your tanks input tube(where you put gas in) you can try to just run a bottle of cleaner through it to see if it will help. if not as you are filling your tank put the nozzle in the tank and lift up on it. that usually helps

When trying to fill the gas tank the gas spits out even though the tank is not full

you cannot use the autofill guns as they are too quick.only fill manually and try twisting gun to one side when filling.(there is a restrictor in the tank that stops flow if car overturned.)

Can't fill gas tank on 2002 Sportage

Try not to put nozzle completely in the tank. There is an anti-syphoning device that is smaller than the rest of fill tube and can cause back pressure. This can be removed

Change your fuel filter, it may have gone it's life time and is getting to dirty to let fuel flow properly. Your fuel pump to may be getting weak, if the fuel filter is dirty the pump works harder and heats up and could be over heating the fuel pump relay too. The fuel pump relay i believe is in the glove box behind a panel that say relay, there should be (3) in there and the middle one is the fuel pump's. switch then around after you change the fuel filter and if you get a chance, check your fuel pressure at the shredder valve. Good luck and hope this help's if there is a Auto Zone around you, you can ask to use the fuel pressure gauge to see what fuel pressure you have and they'll have the step by step instructions on how to do it and takes about 5 min to do and will have the fuel filter and step by step to replace that too. Keep me posted, be glad to help.
