It is an emissions problem. Or sensor problem. Take it for a trouble code scan at Autozone or similar store . They will do a scan for free. You may need to replace the catalytic converter. That cherry red pipe sounds should not be like that at all.

SOURCE: When I am pulling a

I would definately be checking my timing dwell (the Distributor) and make sure it is not loose, or did not move on me. You will need a timing gun to check if it moved, using the timing mark on the dampner pully. Good Luck

Got code505 and my front exhaust gets cherry red

The two may not be related. The 505 code is for the IAC motor in the intake of the engine. Most often the cause of cherry red exhaust manifolds is unburned fuel getting into the exhaust and burning there. This can be due a a bad spark plug, plug, wire or coil causing misfires resulting in unburned fuel being ejected into the exhaust stream. It could also be due to a cracked or broken intake or exhaust valve. This would result in low compression in a cylinder, causing a misfire and having the same result.

Replace timing belts crank sensor runs rough at idle an exaust gets cherry red

This could be several things. One is obstructed CAT. The most common cause though is the engine is running so rich it is dumping unburned fuel into the exhaust. This could be a bad injector sticking exhaust valve, constant misfire etc. Don't run it like this or you will end up with a pile of charcoal and steel where your car is supposed to be.

Pressure washer exhaust and pipe get cherry red and shuts off, wait a bit start back up and runs a while and does it again, some days it runs great

red exhausts indicate a timing fault or an valve clearance problem
It may be running too rich and there is un-burnt fuel in the exhaust
basically it is from the combustion flame getting into the exhaust

Just bought a 1997 corvette been sitting a while charged up battery would not stay running was missing only ran when i kept on fethering pedal the noticed exhaust pipe got cherry red

Check to see if the exhaust is exiting the rear tailpipe. Could be a plugged up catalytic converter. Or some sort of obstruction in the exhaust system....

I have a 1996 chrysler concorde my car is running like it missing changed wires n spark plugs but my exhaust manifold is turning cherry red my car still missing any idea ? Please

It could be a bad coil. See which spark plug wires have spark when cranking the engine over, and which do not have spark. You have a coil pack with 3 ignition coils. So one coil supplies spark to two cylinders. You may find two cylinders not firing from one coil.

When warm runs rough sets knock sensor code will hardly idle turn front cat cherry red car sat for a year put new gas in it when cold runs great

If the cat is cherry red as you say it is I would check the firing order or timing they may have crossed plug wires this will cause the exhaust manifolds to get red hot and glow let me know if this heled you and good luck.It definitely sound to be timing related or crossed wires.
