The code P1408 is no egr flow sensed, It may be that this code is tied to the O2 code P1138, check the egr flow by manully pulling the vlave open with your fingers, the engine will run really bad or stall, if it does'nt the egr passages are plugged with carbon and will need to be cleared, locate the underhood emissions ticker, it will show the location of the EGR valve. Repair the EGR fault first, disconnect the battery for 5 minutes minumiun and then drive it for a few days to see if codes return.

Sounds like it is most likely a sensor in your intake system, either mass airflow, air temperature, or map sensor. Autozone and Advance both pull the codes on your truck for free. I have a 93 Eclipse that did the same thing with a hole in the intake tube, so check that too. Hope this helps :)

There may be problem with the mass air flow sensor (very common with Volvo). This causes the fuel system to malfunction.

You may have noticed increased fuel consumption, loss of power and general 'lazyness'.

Better to take it to authorized Volvo service for a checkup/fix.

Lack of HO2S-11 Switch, Sensor Indicates Rich A HEGO sensor indicating rich at the end of a test is trying to correct for an over-lean condition. The test fails when the fuel control system no longer detects switching for a calibrated amount of time. I would change both of the upstream (before the catalytic converter) O2 sensors (cylinder bank 0ne and two). 9 times out of ten this is the right guess to fix this code.

What do code p1131 mean on a Lincoln Continental 2002


Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch Sensor Indicates Lean Bank 1
In simple terms, it means the engine computer is not "seeing" the O2 sensor switch from rich to lean like it should be doing.
When the O2 sensor switches to lean the computer makes the injectors open more to let in more fuel, until the sensor switches to rich.

HO2S-12 Sensor Code

That is an oxygen sensor code for the front
left side sensor not switching properly

I can assure you that is NOT the main problem
for lack of power

Owning a 2004 L/S & having 10 years diagnostic experience
with it, I would guess you need new spark plugs & most if not
all of the cop ignition coils replaced, as well as the front oxygen
sensors

I have seen a bad battery cause that as well, from low module voltage.

Five or six bad coils with or without a bad battery, I have seen the car only able to go 15 miles per hour,just short of etc failsafe

What exactly is P1138 because I haven't been able to locate it in any OBD2 code books and what is the cause


Of coarse you haven't
You only find the Generic OBD Codes, required by the Govt
The dealers took your tax dollars, and now want your vehicle back, so they can take more money
The P Codes and others, are Manufacturer Specific

P1138 --Lack of HO2S Switch,Indicates Lean

Without writing a book on that issue, You may have a bad Oxy Sensor
It is a rather unusual code,so I would have it checked out by a local repair shop.

It sounds to me like the oxygen sensors (between the engine and catalytic converters) should be replaced. Good luck!
