Question about Volkswagen Cars & Trucks
Engine light is on, P1626 is the only code. Odd not a manual tranny. Checked fuse panel for any blown fuses found #15 a 5a fuse tried to replace it, continues to pop. Got a repair manual #15 controls the Dash panel insert, Auto gearbox,ESP. checked out the schematic found this was a sensing lead to the dash cluster from there to the ECU. Removed and inspected the ECU found corrosion (green in color)on a couple of the terminal pins at the bottom of the supply side. Cleaned corrosion. plugged back in. Fuse is still good. But still have a DTC code of P1626. Is there something I'm missing. Is there a control for the auto trans that I should be looking at instead?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: cruise control
Here's the situation, there was a factory recall on the cruise control module for Explorers and Expeditions during recent years and your vehicle may be included. This is very important because in some vehicles this faulty cruise control module sparked and caught on fire. Here's what you do, call the Ford dealer in your area(service) with the vin number to your vehicle, they will tell you if your vehicle was under this factory recall and if it is they will replace it for free. I would be very careful as you may have one of these faulty modules. Hope this helped.

Your voltage regulator supplies the path for the control lead of the alternator and varies the amount of current available to provide the magnetic field of the armature with the required strength.
Measuring from this lead to ground won't show much voltage.
Apparently the regulator is not integrated into the alternator and is probably failed. If you can chase the control lead backward, you will find the regulator and these are mostly mounted on the fender well or firewall.

WELL YOUR 12 VOLTS TO THE PARK LIGHTS ON EXTERIOR OF CAR COME FROM THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH.. ALSO THAT VOLTAGE FEEDS THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER... KEEP IN MIND THAT THE DASH DIMMER MIGHT ALSO BE BAD... WHEN YOU TURN ON PARK LIGHTS YOU SHOULD SEE THE DASH LIGHT FUSE GO HOT IF NOT SUSPECT THE HEAD LIGHT SWITCH

920 The cluster is not receiving a vehicle speed message from the PCM.1. Check the PCM software level and reflash if required.
2. Use a DRB scan tool to verify that the vehicle speed message is being sent by the PCM.
----------------921 The cluster is not receiving a distance pulse message from the PCM.1. Check the PCM software level and reflash if required.
2. Use a DRB scan tool to verify that the distance pulse message is being sent by the PCM.
----------999 An error has been discovered.1. Record the failure message.
2. Depress the trip odometer reset button to continue the Self-Diagnostic Test.-----------Code 999 is nothing to worry, but code 920 and 921.This both codes indicates problem with communication of instrument cluster and pcm( also known as cars computer).-------If you have tried cleaning the instrument cluster board and re-flashing cpu, then its most probably faulty computer( cpu/ pcm).It has to be replaced.------------Get both the instrument cluster board and pcm bench tested at the car repair site. And replace which ever tests faulty. The problem is between any of the two.---------This will help, thanks.Helpmech.
