SOURCE: Astro Van is running rough

Mixing two different oils wouldn't matter, but 10W40 is way too viscous for that engine. Replace that with 10W30 asap. The first number is the cold cranking weight, the second number is the weight at operating temperature. 10w40 gets worse for that engine as it approaches operating temp.

What kind of oil should i put in 97 rodeo v6?

You can basically use any oil you want. If you do regular oil changes Go with the less expensive. If you skip oil changes . Go with a better grade/ name/ high mileage. I change mine 4 times a year and go with the cheapest I can find. I use 10w30 in the winter time and switch to 10w40 in the summer. I have 175,000 miles on my truck and haven't had a problem. I also use an oil ttreament in each oil change since I hit 100,000 miles. I put in one pint of treatment untill I hit 200,000, then I will go to one quart. I have done this with a couple of cars and when I sold them they still had at least 40 pounds of pressure. Also I only change my oil filter every other time.

Which is best in winter 10w40 or 10w30? This is a 2000 chevy silverado

10w-30 is the best of the two choices for cold weather. Unless, you do alot of long distance highway miles or tow a trailer then the 10w-40 is better

This is for 2coolrick

In the engine: 10w30 or 10w40 if you live in a desert area with mild winters. And for zert fitting type lube points, I'd use a premium grade grease chassis lubricant.

My 96 astro doesnt is slow starting when cold.

If you mean in cold weather try a winter blend oil and allow your van to warm up a little 5 minutes before driving.

1995 astro oil pressure low on gauge

GM oil pressure senders have a pretty high failure rate. Since your van is over 10 years old, and pressure senders are not too expensive.
I would start by replacing your sender...there's a pretty high likelihood that you will eventually replace it anyway. Change the oil and filter every 3000 miles and use a 10W30 with a Lucas oil treatment and with a can of Restor would not hurt ether.
Getting to expensive to buy and replace a good running van over some light routine mantance for around $20.00 every 3000 to 5000 miles.
Good luck and hope this helps.

Astro Van is running rough

No,the oil ratings 10w30 and so refer to how the oil viscosity reacts to hot and cold.As far as running rough, when was the last time is was tuned up,cap and rotor if applicable, spark plugs and air filter? Is it carburated or EFI?
