have you checked all ofyour fuses? usually when you hook up a battery backwads you end up blowing a fuse and or fry your alternator on older modeled vehicles as there is no protection for it.

SOURCE: My 2001 Saturn, will start

You said, 'fuel injectors are not injecting fuel into fuel rail' but it's my understanding that the fuel rail gasoline is supplied by the pump, and the fuel injectors just pulse to allow fuel to get to the cylinders. I would check out the fuel delivery problem further. Check for pressure in the fuel rail that is within specs.

If not, then the pump or fuel pressure regulator may be the problem. Check the fuse for the fuel pump. If good, then the pump may be bad in the tank.

Good luck on this.

SOURCE: What is wrong with my explorer if it cranks but

tammyspenton, This problem could be caused by a number of things, but the first thing that comes to mind is that you have a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) or associated wiring problem. Seeing that it does not react when you push the pedal to the floor. You may have a bad sensor that has put your vehicles computer into limp mode and this will have to be replaced before it will operate normaly again. Good luck with this.

You should hear the fuel pump run momentarily when the key is in the Run position. Ensure the engine has a good spark by removing one of spark plug boots. Stick a phillips screwdriver in the boot, and hold the handle of the screwdriver, and allow the shaft near ground. (motor works best) Have someone crank the engine and look for a good blue spark arch from the screwdriver and engine. If your getting good spark, then check the fuel pressure on the fuel injection rail.

My 99 buick regal cranks over and starts but has trouble running. If you give it gas to help it through the start up it levels out and runs fine. Fuel pump is good, I've changed spark plugs and wires,

sounds like a stuck open EGR valve to me , take it off of a cool engine and spray some carb cleaner around the seat see if any leaks through to the other side. If it does The valve is bad. Also check out your throttle body for carbon and gumming. W/ engine off spray an appropriate carburator
cleaner into the opening and clean throttle plate and bore with a rag until shiney. put all the air cleaner hoses back together and hold throttle to floor momentarily until engine starts, then rev up half way and release throttle twice quickly, now allow engine to idle idle should be stable and smooth. If not then check for other sources of vaccume leaks.

One day start..number one..next morning ,turn but dont start. Coud it be the crankshaft sensor..?

If you have spark when it doesnt want to start I wouldnt think is the crank or cam sensor. Now, when the fuel pump is about to fail, they tend to work sporadically. When the car does not want to start, gather all information possible (Have spark? Have gas?) It should start if you have those two unless you have compression or head gasket issues.
I hope this helps!

hey that sounds familiar!have you checked your idle control sensor? let me tell you 1st you crank it cold, you have to keep your foot on the gas pedal until it warms up.but then when you come up to red light quick stop, the engine dies or wants to stop? sometimes it starts fine? but when it does, after running for a few minutes,it idles up and down? when it's warm after driving 15miles or so,you shut it off and try a restart, and the engine starts, but idles up and down? all of the above are signs of a bad idle control sensor.the part costs about $20.00 u.s. 2bolts removal 1 PLUG IN REMOVAL you may be able to do it yourself.have an autozone or advance autoparts store employee show you where it's located.you would be shocked at how many great people there are left in the world! i'm answering your question for free at midnight from the u.s. think i'm bored? no. just love helping people like you! thank you so much!

have the battery tested, u are not describing a lack of fuel problem, u either have a defective battery or a corroded positive battery cable, that is very comm on on your year and model, I am a Ford dealer tech so I know what is going on with these explorers, it is seldom a fuel pump concern, the slow or no crank is the key factor here.
