Usually the fuel system is not working correctly, or there's an air or vac leak. The engine is not getting enough fuel or too much air.

What does code system to lean bank 1 mean on my 2000 lexus rx300

It could be caused by many things, but generally it means that your engine is running too lean - usually indicating a vacuum leak. It could also be that the O2 sensor is bad and giving a false reading.

What does the system too lean means on a 97 grand prix 3.8 engine

It means exactly what it says. The system is running too lean and the computer has reached it's adaptive limits. Look for vacuum leaks, fuel pressure regulator leaking, MAF. There are a number of ways you can get lean readings.

Because you have a V engine the pistons are angled, More commonly known as a Bank, Now Bank 2 lean would mean that the righthand side as you look at the engine will be Bank 2, Lean means that bank is running rich, using more fuel

An Engine Light came on the dashboard of my 2003 Ford Windstar.The code came up saying p0171 (Fuel System too lean.(Cylinder bank 1) What does this mean?

P0171=System Too Lean Bank 1,
not cylinder 1,it means the oxygen sensor on the drivers side exhaust was stuck on lean and set a code.
doesn't mean you need to change the oxygen sensor yet,first clear the code and see if it corrected its self.

Check engine light coming on.

I wish I could be more specific, but a vacuum leak would cause all your conditions, any vacuum hose or motor or, loose or bad hose could cause this. Also, the egr valve not closing as it should. I hope this helps, if after you check these things out, message me back for a few more ideas, I doubt it would be the maf but anythinng is possible, generally the maf and oxygen sensors would throw a code if it were them.
