If it is coming from the rear of the vehicle it is possibly the fuel pump. In that event you would hear it more clearly if you are close to the fuel tank as the pump is inside the tank. You should also hear it while the car is stopped with the engine running as the pump will be running normally. If there is no noise from that area it will not be the pump.
If it is a grinding noise from the rear (and you have rear disc brakes)you may have a stone or other hard debris caught and moving around between the metal protection plate that sits behind the disc and the disc itself on one of the rear brake assemblies. Obviously if the noise appears when the car is completely stopped it will not be that.
If coming from the front, you don't mention if the noise occurs when the car is sitting with the engine running or only when you are driving the car. If it is apparent when the car is sitting with the engine running, then open the bonnet and see if you can locate the source of the noise in the engine bay. If there is no noise from the engine bay then rev the engine a few times and see if the noise appears. If not then it is not engine related.
Also when driving the car check if the noise increases and decreases when you are speeding up and slowing down.
Without a general description of what the noice sounds like, squeal as compared to knocking, it is impossible to help you. Engines make a lot of different noises, so try and help by describing noise. I would suspect it is belt related, or tension pulley related as these are RPM variable noises, belts tend to slip when you accelerate and can be quite loud with a serpentine belt as example.
at night, it is cold, your drive belt gets worn other time, when it's cold at night it doesn't get much grip, so it squeaks, what you can do is tighten it up, find which one is loose by pressing on them. The concept of belt tensioning is simple, look it up, on all cars work the same.
Sticking clutch throw-out bearing arm or linkage/cable, or pedal, so that throw-out bearing is just barely and intermittently touching the throw-out plate of the clutch. Depressing the pedal slightly engages the bearing to the plate causing positive drive of the bearing, quieting the noise. After running a while, the bearing moves sufficient distance to disengage. Next time it happens, with the vehicle stopped, in neutral and with the parking brake set, stick your toes under the clutch pedal and pull it back, see if the noise stops or changes..
not enough info for diagnosis, Try putting bar soap and check tension of fanbelts for squeaking noise of the belts as a cause. The clunk maybe worn or damaged suspension components, cv joints or even worn or broken motor mounts. Start with these items...
Your noise sounds like it is power train related,If you have eliminated the engine,Since it doesn't make the noise while moving and in neutral. It sounds like a universal joint in the drive shaft.Do you notice a vibration along with the noise?
check throttle cable isn't broken or disconnected.I've had them come off at throttle lever.look under the hood while someone pushes the pedal;car can be off,you should see the cable moving the disc shaped throttle lever.check connection at pedal.
