Question about 1999 Ford Explorer
Please have your ignition coil pack checked. the coils go bad often on ford cars/trucks. if thats ok, then have your catalytic converter also checked. if its clogged, then it will cause the symptoms you describe.

could be a dirty filter or fluid might try changing filter and having tranny flushed did this w a 96 windstar only just replaced fluid that drained when changing filter dont forget to clean the magnet area on the pan
