Check the following basics:-
1. That the car is in neutral.
2. The battery is charged - sometimes the dashboard lights come on and you can hear an audible click from the starter solinoid but there is not enough charge to crank the engine.
3. The anti-theft device / immobiliser is functioning as it should.
