Question about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
They are dual filament bulbs so best thing is to change at least one of them - if it doesn't work keep the old one as a spare. Next thing is to check to see if it is a hydrolic or mechancal switch (usually found under the brake pedal) - see users manual. Also try using a meter and check the contacts where they bulb goes (remove it of course) or the pin-outs in the connector - have someone press the break pedal and monitor the voltage.

I had the same light issue a few weeks ago. There is just a single light bulb with dual filaments for the high and low beams. All you need to do is replace the light bulb. The instructions are in the owners manual.

sounds like a broken wire in the harness. look around the bumper area, sometimes along the frame. may have to peel back some tape covering. also if you have a trailer harness look closely at those.
