Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

My Ford Freestar mini van is making a noise when I turn left or right. When I start up and turn the wheel, it's a creeking straining noise in the front. When I was driving today, going over bumps in the road, it sounds like something is going to fall off in the back when I bounce. When my heat is on, my windows fog up completely, so, I turn off the heat to defrost the windows. My brake light has been on since October 2013, but I got brake pads on the back of the car in September 2013. Please tell me what's wrong with my car, the noises are making me nervous and I'm thinking something is really wrong.

It really sounds like you have a front wheel bearing that has gone out. This would make the anti-lock system fail so you would have a brake light indicator on.

Probably torsion bad bushings. Jack it up on both sides, put it on jack stands have someone turn the wheel back and forth and see if you can isolate the source of the noise.

2004 ford freestar 4.2L engine...high pitched

this sounds odd but mine did this when i replaced the wipers. it seems the design of the wiper frame was making a whistle at higher speeds. the freestar wipers are exposed on the window cowl and not hidden so they endure the winds at high speed. it is worth a shot.

2004 freestar

the most common cause of this in your Ford based on my dealer related repairs would be a part called the rotating ribbon contact (Ford refers to this part as the Clock-Spring contact.) that connects the steering wheel airbag to the steering column wiring, this contact coils and uncoils as the wheel is turned left and right and makes a solid connection to all steering wheel mounted components and controls. To change this part you must dis-arm the airbag and remove the steering wheel, if u do this repair yourself it is very important that u dis-arm the SRS system before starting work, this can be done by disconnecting the battery for 1 hour.

Steering creeks when turning left or right. front wheel noise.

My advise is when u get a humming noise when banking left or right. Its beter to change both left and right wheel bearing and ball joints. Cause if u think about it those parts are put on at the same time . So if u think about it they have the same where in Terre . left or right hope this helps you.

Steering system makes a whining noise when van turning left or right. Noise started when turning to left but now does in both directions and is getting louder. What partis causing noise?

This is caused by the power steering pump, the only way to correct it is to flush the power steering system and replace the pump
