Tail lights are not working correctly

My gmc canyon brake lights went out i checked fuses and bulbs replaced as needed. the back left side running light and brake light stay on but the blinker is very dim. when i tap my brake the left turn signal on the dash lights up. the right side has no running lights no brake light but the blinker works just fine and no light for the 3rd brake light up top the fuse for the stop keeps blowing. all lights and turn signals up front work just fine too. would this be cause by the brake lamp switch??

I have to believe that with all of the "non related" issues happening that there is a wiring harness problem. If you track the harness back from the tail lights you will probably find a nick or a break in the line. If nothing shows then check the connection point which should be somewhere around your fuel tank. It will be a male/female fitting that will pull apart and you can check at that point with a meter if it is working to that point. If not it then you will have to work your way all the way up to find the fault point.

My first thought is a problem with an earth connection though this would not explain the blown fuse. If the vehicle has a trailer plug check the socket and the wiring carefully for short circuits.

Im replacing a tail light circuit board on both rear lights, is their any special way to do this

just check accurately bulbs if you mixed it could happen like that, some cars for the brake lights use two contact bulbs some of them single contact, two contact bulbs can give two signals which one is used for brake ligths and another for taillight, so check the bulbs carefully

Brake lights

Check brake light switch, generally a misadjust could cause this; this device is located on top, back side of the brake pedal.
