Question about 1998 Isuzu Trooper
My engine 4jx1 has a problem of mixing diesel fuel with water in the radiator. And in the morning it has to undergo several cranks before it starts. And even when it starts it emites a lot of smoke. What can I do to solve this problem?. Which has persisted for a long time now.
Hyghjacked post from 2014 to 2017 ,
no country stated
3.0 L direct injection diesel engine, turbo, some inter-cooled
this is a diesel fuel in the rad post (my guess wrong, its engine oil)
cracked engine./head,intake manifold or bad headgasket.
not running 50% anitfreeze coolant and bam? damage.

Get some BLUE DEVIL and follow the Directions. You have a Blown head Gasket or a Cracked Intake or Head.

The copper washers on the bottom of the injectors can give this fault if they are not renewed when the injectors are replaced .
If you have changed these allready and made sure you pulled them down exactly as the manual says in 3 stages then you may have a bad injector - see your Isuzu dealer .

White smoke is usually a sign of coolant burning. Carefully open the coolant cap, sniff the inside. If there is an exhaust smell you more than likely have head gasket problems. A further diagnosis is needed to be sure. Also ensure that any wires/plugs are reconnected. If the oil sensor is unplugged the vehicle wont start.

the engine oil pumps are in the rear of the engine(trans out) and behind flexplate /flywheel, were any of these 2 engine oil pumps touched if so the flywheel /flexplate has to be timed to crankshaft position, so you might have it in the wrong position, if your talking about the diesel lift pump (injector pump) that also supplies high pressure engine oil to injectors, after replacing this there is a learn procedure for the rail pressure control valve that is on pump. this can only be done by dealer or some one with Tech2 scanner tool.

SOURCE: i cannot start my isuzu bighorn w/4jx1 engine. we already changed the turbo but still it emits too much smoke in the exhaust and after a while the engine goes wild and we cannot turn it off in the ign
Its a diesel and its running away so do not try to start till you do the following and yes i know i will be amolished for being a cowboy by the other experts but what you do is to make a gasket for the EGR valve from a coca cola can and seal it off if you dont it may run away and blow itself to pieces .If you do this then it run as normal as the older trucks never had these thing fitted and they all run ok in my day ,exactly whats wron i couldnt tell you without my head under the bonnet but do as i say and it run perfectly
