Check the bulbs if fuse not gone, otherwise it is the reverse switch sensor on the gearbox, not an expensive part but not easy to replace by your own

Hi .
Reverse light works on a switch that's is located on your transmission . so the problem is with the switch or fuse or maybe even globes are blown ? good luck.

Reverse light fuse is continually blowing 1999 mitsubishi galant

The speed sensor is probably the root of your problems. Likely the reverse switch wiring is routed through the harness for the sensor. That could also be the reason it goes into limp mode. Change the sensor and see if all problems are resolved. Good luck.

Reversing lights wont work

Look in your owners manual to see where your fuse box and relay box is located. Check to see if fuse is blown in the fuse box first.

Reverse light and brake light not working

More than likely you have blown some fuses.. the reverse light and brake light fuses are located in the under hood fuse/relay block is located near the battery in the engine compartment.Lift the cover for access to the fuse/relay block. You will see fuses to the top right of the fuse/relay block once you remove the cover. These are geneallay spare fuses stored in that location. You can remove fuses with a fuse extractor. The fuse extractor is located in the fuse/relay block itself ...and looks like a pair of cheap plastic tweezers (lol). Ok if you look at the lid of the fuse compartment it shows the location of the fuses... you need to look the location marked STOP LP, CHMSL, VEH STOP, and TRL B/U. Those 4 control the lights in question. I would pretty much guarantee that at least 2 of them are blown. If you replace them and they blow again... that means you have an "short" or overload problem... just contact me again and I will tell you how to fix that. I hope that helps you. Good Luck

Reverse lights not working on 2000 mitsubishi eclipse

Sorry but this is a tough one. I've searched quite awhile for a solution.

You might want to post it on the mitsubishi forum site.

In the meanwhile here's:
- a great wiring diagram for you here
- component locations here
- it may be easier to search the entire service manual online here

sorry I couldn't be more help. One more thing...if its a short in a wire (which I think it is) then if you fiddle with it at night you might be able to see the spark where the wire is shorted. But please be careful!

Did you install new speakers recently????

Reverse light short

if im not mistaken, under the car on the tranny you should find the switch, youll have to consult a manual for the exact location. it should be on the drivers side, look for a bump with wires coming out of it. i was haveing the same problem with my 1985 trooper. i found that the switch was partially unplugged and causing a short, thus blowing the fuse. follow the wires until you find a connection. see if it is unplugged. if not, then check the cotinuity of the switch with a multitester. it may be a bad switch
