The engine does not usually grind. It is most likely the transmission. When a transmission grinds it means that it is unable to shift properly, a couple of things that can cause that are the cluch needs to be replaced, or one of the gears is stripped.

Saturn L300 oiling circuit diagram needed

you have the 3.0 V6, there is an oil cooler under the intake manifold that is known to cause problems, be very very careful if you try to fix it yourself, the saturn 3.0 is not an easy engine to deal with.

I have a 1998 saturn SL2 with a LL1.9LL4 engine, want to switch out with a 1998 saturn SW2SW wagon with a 16 valve twin cam will this work? SL2 engine blown, SW2SW ****** is going!

If you are replacing a DOHC 1998 engine with another DOHC 1998 engine yes it will work. Saturn only made two engines from 91-99 and they all had the same block, difference some were SOHC and others were DOHC. The number "1" after SL or SC or SW means SOHC while the number "2" after SC or SL or SW means a DOHC.

Note if one is an auto and the other manual you are going to have to swap the flywheel/ring gear stuff over.

I need to know where the carborator is on 1998 Saturn SL, with a picture

A 1998 Saturn will not have a carborator as it is fuel injected sorry.

What type of engine do I have in my 1998 Saturn SL1?

if it is an SL1 it has a SOHC 1.9L. Basically the same engine was in all saturns 91-99, just different heads. the Sl2 had double over head cam and the Sl1 had SOHC.

1998 Saturn SL Overheated, then died. very little steam or smoke. No clunk, or grinding noise, but now wont start. Let it cool and filled coolant resevoir it was low. Oddly had to put in 2 qt of oil...

There's a few possibilities of what might have happened. If the motor got hot enough to warp the cylinder head then the head gasket could have failed between two or more cylinders which would allow the engine to crank over quite freely but not start. The 1.9L engine has a timing chain which rarely fails so I doubt if you have any problems there. A compression test and a cooling system pressure check should be done to see where the problem is and what kind of damage has been done. Engines with aluminum heads don't tolerate much overheating and warp quite easily once they reach a certain temp.
