Have a 2002 Sonata-everytime i put gas in - it will click off-even backing it out it will still keep clicking off. Takes a half hour to fill the tank.

try not putting nozzle in all the way

try not to insert the nozzle all the way in . Pull it back a little.

The tank venting system is malfunctioning. There is a hose which runs from the tank filler tube to the evaporative canister which prevents fumes going into the atmosphere. The hose may have a blockage in it or the cannister itself may be blocked preventing air from flowing from the tank as the gas is pumped in.

no its not the vent.it is the restrictor for the nozzle for unleaded gas.(thinner/smaller then leaded) causing a back pressure when you are filling up.sorry but you will just have to fill up slowly like i do....

have emission system checked or buy manual and perform test

possible cause could be evap canister full of gas causing back up

for the gas problem its the evap shut off solenoid located along the fuel lines. do not take out the check valve in gas tank it will not work thats what you get for buying a hhyundai next time get a GM

my porsche does the same if i face the nozzle at say normal angle six o clock it keeps clicking off and spraying back at me if i turn the nozzle to 12 clock up side down and it flows in with full squeeze no problem give it ago you might be surprised glenn..........

My dealer told me that if you fill up beyond the first "click" of the gas pump it will mess up the sensor in the gas tank. It might fix it's self eventually, but can be avoided if you anly fill the tank up to that "click".
