Your engine won't run good much longer if you allow the oil level to get so low the pump sucks air on corners. The oil pressure dropping isn't a guide to how often the oil needs a top up. The idea is to top up before the oil pressure falls, probably checking and topping up weekly would be safer, at least until the leak is cured. In the old days only a fool wouldn't check the oil and water daily...

There are two ways to locate an oil leak. The first method is to wash the area around the leak and run the engine and watch using strong light and a mirror if necessary until fresh oil appears.

The second method is the high-tech method where a fluorescent dye is added to the engine oil and again the engine is run while a strong ultraviolet lamp illuminates the area until the dye appears.

Losing oil preasure -chk. gauges lights up hemi 2008 always change oil

If you don't see an ovisy oil leak someware on the engine or below it leaking on the ground .Then check the oil pressure sending unit it could be a false reading its not uncommon and its about 20 dollars or so for the part you will need a speical deep socket to remove it but that is universal for most vehicles and in expensive to buy . But play with the connector to the unit first it may just be a bad connection 2008 is kind of new for for this failure with the sending unit. However it could have been defictive all along

2004 ram 1500 with 5.7 hemi using 1 quart every 3,000 miles

Slide a large piece of cardboard under the truck after driving for ten minutes note in which area directly above the spot on the cardboard the oil is coming from then get under the vehicle with a drop light to look for the origin of the leak, if no leak is detected then it may be the engine is burning oil this could either be valve stem seals or broke or worn oil rings.

Can i0w 40 oil oppose to 5w 20 that is recommended in a 2007 dodge ram 1500 with hemi?

do not use 10W-40W, it will starve the engine rod and main bearings, use the 5W-20W as recommended, also thicker oils can blow the oil filter off, seen it a number of times.
