SOURCE: I am having problems finding the idle air control

It is always attached to the intake or throttle body in the one piece either below sticking to intake or is either at the throttle and is the only one with an electric plug on to it, on the Maxima 04 I know that it is s ingle piece with the throttle body.....and is held by 4 screws and the gasket most of the times can be reused....

Good luck.

The memory has been compromised,if the car will start and run,it might relearn,do not remove the cables again, but try driving the car with out the ac on,for 2 minutes, down the road, threw all the gears, then turn the ac on high blower motor, and drive it another 2 minutes, see if it relearns. If it will not,it ,the computer will have to be reprogrammed.

Download 2004 Nissan Maxima Lighting System Section LT PDF Manual 190 Pages Do you know how to do electrical testing with volt ohm meter ? Do you know what a BCM is ? COMPUTER !
Control of the parking, license plate, and tail lamp operation is dependent upon the position of the lighting switch (combination switch). When the lighting switch is placed in the 1ST position, the BCM (body control module) receives input signal requesting the parking, license plate, side marker and tail lamps to illuminate. This input signal is communicated to the IPDM E/R (intelligent power distribution module engine room) across the CAN communication lines. The CPU (central processing unit) of the IPDM E/R controls the tail lamp relay coil. This relay, when energized, directs power to the parking, license plate, rear side marker and tail lamps, which then illuminate.
Testing starts at 134

Anyone ever hear of a maxima not starting but when i remove the key and flick the interior lock back and fourth a couple times then it starts up...

Sounds like your having issues with your theft deterrent system/body control module either way its a computer or electronic fault and pining it down will take some time and extensive knowledge of body electrical and vehicle control systems. I wouldn't attempt to fix this issue if I wasn't trained in these areas. You can do damage to computer modules that can run anywhere between $500 and $4000 for the part alone. Go see a reputable professional automotive tech in your area and let them track it down

What causes melting of the ignition coils?

Multiple modules send and receive digital data along a data bus. If one of the modules shorts out, it can disrupt data flow for all modules on the bus. I'd have to look up the wiring for your car (which I'm not gonna do), but I highly doubt that the BCM is responsible for ign coil burnout. That's almost always caused by driving on worn spark plugs.

When I remove the BCM fuse the draw on the battery goes down from .015 to.003 What is this fuse for?

BCM= body contol module. This module contains logic and relays to operate things like your locks, remote opener and anti-theft system. It's like a computer for the body--separate from the computer that runs the engine. You can see the module in a couple of wiring diagrams below. Are you having a problem we can help you with?
