Replace blower motor 1992 buick century

Power steering pump is in the way

In case anyone still has a 1992 Century like I do you have to change the blower motor from the firewall. The problem is that the power steering pump is in the way. So, you have to remove it. NOTE: You don't have to remove the reservoir. First, using an 18mm wrench, grab the tensioner pulley and with a pipe on the end of the wrench/socket push CCW to release tension and remove the serpentine belt. Then loosen the three 13mm bolts behind the power steering pulley (you reach them through the holes). You don't have to loosen the bracket bolt that attaches the bracket to the alternator. Then there is one 13mm bolt on the opposite side of the pump that attaches to a rod whose other end mounts to the top back of the engine with a 10mm head bolt. This also needs to be removed. Once this is done you can maneuver the pump out of the way of the fan, but be careful with the high pressure hose and the low pressure rubber hose. I disconnected the low pressure hose and drained the tank to make it easier since the fluid was old anyway, but you shouldn't have to do this. It is still a tight fit and you have to move the PS pump out of the way by twisting and turning a bit but it can be done. You then install the new blower fan and reverse the instructions to put everything back. If you need to add fluid, remember to turn the wheels back and forth to bleed any air. I didn't have to do much of this since I plugged the low pressure line. Good luck if you have to change the blower motor! It's nice not to hear the grinding of the old one. A new one with impeller cost me $25.99 at the auto parts store. It should take about 1-2 hours with good light.

SOURCE: how to replace a coolant level sensor, 2000 buick century

The coolant level sensor is located on the radiator. If you are looking at the engine from the front of the car it will be on the left side. There will some kind of clip holding it in the radiator. Removed the clip and pull the sensor out. You will lose coolant so try to swap it out quick or drain some of the coolant out. Once new sensor is installed, install clip to keep the sensor in place and reconnect the wires to the sensor. Crank the engine and make sure the coolant level is full. This should correct your problem.

SOURCE: A/C Heater blower fan does not cycle through all speeds

Yes it is the blower Motors Resistor board. It is up behind the blower motor, just under the glove box. You have to remove the black KICK panel with its two "Push Pins" that will break too. There are 3 screws holding that resistor board in, the back two are a bear to get to. Good luck.

Getting a light color from power steering unit.It is not very pink in color anymore.Someone in buickforums wrote me saying may be getting coolant thru power steering cooler. What needs to be looked at

Power steering fluid comes in two colors, one of which is amber and the other color is a pink/red combination. When power steering fluid becomes much darker than when it is new, that means it is time to change it. Some vehicles have a light brown power steering fluid. just change the fluid and go from there ! use a turkey baster to remove fluid in power steering pump. refill the pump with new fluid, make sure air is out of system. you may need to bleed system when done. there will be some old fluid in system. but this is ok. to get air from system, just jackup front of car. move steering wheel from left stop to the right stop. do this a few times and be sure fluid is up in tank.

92 buick century blower motor replace? I have a 92 century that im trying to replace the blower motor on. the problem im having is that i cannot get it to slide out because it hits the power steering pump....

Found this info. I don't know liter size of engine? For the 2.2L rotate the engine forward slightly. Some, I have removed the squirrel cage from the blower, then removed. I don't know if that would be applicable on your vehicle? As far as the power steering pump, I'd have to look at mounting bracket. All I can do is throw out ideas, I can't see anything from here.

1992 Buick Century Custom. Trouble starting as though not getting gas. Changed the fuel pump and filter and still has the problem. After a few trys it will start and run ok. ?????

Sounds like you need to replace the fuel pump relay which is about $13 at Autozone. It is simple to replace. It is under the hood on the passenger side right behind the headlights.

Power steering system is leaking, does not look as if its the pump, looks like a steel line at front

That line rusts and then leaks. Replace the line. This fairly difficult so you can just cut both lines at the bottom where they come from the pump and connect them with a short rubber hose and use hose clamps to fasten them. The Power steering might not work quite as well, but will work.

Wat does the serpentine belt go around to helmak the motor turn

The engine's operation moves the serpentine belt, not the other way around. The serpentine belt uses engine power to operate the power steering pump, the air conditioning compressor, the alternator.
