SOURCE: Door open light switch problem

First check to see if voltage is actually going to the bulb at the "dome" light etc. when you open the door... Then check to see if you have proper ground at dome light.. If not check wiring harness to the switches at door usually located in the door jam area.... remove switcvh and inspect for missing wires that go to the dome light some times the dome light is connected to a switch on the dash check this first....basics always first, fuses and connections then fallow the wire as a last resort..

SOURCE: 2000 Toyota RAV4 side door emblems How do I remove, then replace [higher] RAV4 emblem on side doors to allow fitting of body protection mouldings.

Use an automotive heat gun set to low setting and gently pry the old molding off, then locate an automotive paint/body shop supply store and buy a roll of the special molding double sided tape to put it back on, you will have to buy a whole roll , it will be pricey.

Check the dome light override switch lockated on the dome light itself, then check the fuse for "CTSY Lights" and finally, check the ground attachment by removing the lens cover of the dome (roof) light, an removing the plastic housing of the dome light by either removing a screw, or simply prying on the sides of the plastic housing, you should see a wire screwed into the roof metal.

G6 dome light assembly replacement

This is for the Pontiac G6, 2006 Model year. Remove the Dome Light cover and Lens using a flat screwdriver or fingers, (fingers are best to avoid damage to the plastic). The lighting fixture uses a magnet to attach to the roof. Pull down and detach the fixture, gently as not to damage the roof's fabric. The switch's wiring harness attaches to the fixture by a 4 pin plugged connector. Use a small flat screwdriver to pry the tab up, off of the clip to release the wiring plug from the fixture. Use the reverse order to reinstall after repair. Good luck

Electrical problem /passenger doors/windows inoperative, second problem all wireless entry and all lock functions inoperative. Both fail together and would go intermittent / now just dead. Driver door and...

Your windows and your door locks are controlled by the door modules in your vehicle. There is one for thye driver's dorr and for the passenger door. The door modules, in turn, are controlled and monitored by the Body Control Module. I would recommend begining diagnosis by having your computer system scanned. It may be just a simple loose connection in one of the PCI Data circuits causing a non-communication problem.

My sunroof is not able to be closed. It is in the pop up position. Is there a manual way to close it? eg no use of electricity?

there is no manual method. It sounds like a limit switch is not working. Can you hear the motor try to operate? If you push up on the back of the glass a little bit while hitting the switch, what happens.

The sliding roof panel system consists of the following components:
  • RH circuit breaker
  • Timer module
  • Power window relay
  • Roof sliding panel switch (15B691)
  • Roof glass panel (50054)
  • Sliding roof panel motor (15790)
  • Halo moulding
  • Roof sliding panel headlining (519A02)
  • Roof sliding panel slide links (502M78)
  • Roof sliding panel housing (502C22)
  • Roof air deflector (500A26)
  • Center green diode strip
-------------------------------------
When the roof sliding panel switch is activated, a gear on the sliding roof panel motor drives a spline on the roof sliding panel housing. Within the roof sliding panel housing, the spline is connected to two sliding roof panel cables which cause the roof sliding panel slide links to slide and the roof glass panel to open or to close. The sliding roof panel cables and the spline are part of the roof sliding panel housing. Neither the sliding roof panel motor nor the roof sliding panel housing can be disassembled. If a malfunction is detected with either of these assemblies, the assembly must be replaced.

The open door light comes on when driving my 2003 Lexus gx470. It seems to only happen on cold days. The door open light comes on and off at random times during driving. It will come on while accelerating,...

Sounds like the door switch button is sticking or there is a loose wire. First thing to do is to check the action of the button/stem for the switch. It should be located on the door sill and will be pushed closed when the door makes contact with the switch. Once you locate the switch check the action of the button/stem. Verify that it is not sticking and if the button/stem moves easily. Feel the housing and see if it is loose. Tap the door in the area of the switch with something solid and see if the interior light goes on and off. If it does then it might just be a loose wire on the switch. You will then need to carefully pop out the switch with a small screwdriver(they are usually held in by a clip). If it gives you alot of resistence do not force it because you could damage it. Once you remove it check the wire connectors to the switch and see if they are loose. If they are good then it is probably a defective door switch and you will need to replace it. You can also try to lubricate it with some graphite powder and see if that loosens the internal mechanism of the switch and gets it working again.

Remove "Door Ajar" switch. Clean the switch and use a graphite type lubricant (I recommend "Dry-Slide") to lubricate the actuator on the switch. Reassemble the switch.

The switches are located inside the door panels, attached to the catch mechanism.

1) Remove interior door panel.

2) Using a T-27 Torx driver, remove the 3 bolts holding the catch in the door.
2a) The door ajar switch is the only part on the mechanism with the 2-wire harness.
2b) The switch is located at the rear catch for the sliding door.

3) Using a small flat screwdriver, gently lift the black tab on the catch mechanism and rotate the switch to remove it from the catch assembly.

4) Using a rag, clean the small round actuator and apply a small amount of graphite lubricant to the actuator and work the switch so it moves freely.

5) Reassemble the catch and the door.

1993 lincoln towncar sunroof switch

I know this is an old blog but some people may still find it helpful. There are 4 wires in the roof window switch hooked up to 2 smaller harnesses that have 2 wires each.

Remove the switch and use only the metal contacts in the harnesses. One should use a light tester to confirm which one is the ground and live. this is how it turned out for my car.

One harness has a light blue wire with a black stripe, and a black wire. the blue one is live, the black one is ground.

The other harness has a red wire and a darker blue wire (silly ford) these are the motor connect and return wires.

You must hook up thhooked to (example, if the live wire was connected to blue motor wire and the ground wire was connected to red motor wire and it opened it, that would mean you would want to put the live wire to the red motor wire and the ground wire to the blue motor wire)

When doing these wire connections, it is advised that you have the ignition turned off. Once you make all the connections properly, you can turn on the ignition and if done correctly, the roof window will move. Once it is closed, remove the wires frome the harnesses and LEAVE THE ROOF WINDOW ALONE UNTIL YOU HAVE A NEW SWITCH.
e power (Live, light blue) wire to a motor wire. You must then run another wire from the other motor wire. To complete this circuit there is only one place that this last wire can go and it is to the ground. once this is connected the roof should either open more or close.

To reverse the operation of the roof, simply reverse the position of the live and ground wires in respect to which motor wires they are
