Trouble shooting 1997 F150 starting problem

Have you checked each connection between the battery and starter for 12 volts? It could be a weak battery, faulty starter, faulty solenoid, dirty cable connections, or weak battery cables.
A Ford product must have 11.5 volts or more to engage the starter.

Starts with remote but when put in ignition position it stops

If this is one of those after market remote starters your problem could be a conflict between the ignition system on the car and the starter anti theft. In my oppinion you have two options, disable the remote and see if the car starts at the ignition,or have it trouble shooted by an installer if you are not that handy.Problem with these starters is once they start to act up they can let you down in the most inconvenient places.Good Luck

the starter could be shot, try having someone tap on it with a hammer or breaker bar while you turn the ignition. if it starts then you know you need to replace the starter. if not message me back and i'll be more than happy to help you trouble shoot the problem further
