Question about 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier
I experience much the same issue with my 2000 Jeep grand Cherokee Laredo which is full time all wheel drive as well!
No it is normal as all the wheels are trying to rotate at same speed

Sounds like your ignition is failing. I would reccommend a mechanics opinion, however, those are very common symptoms of ignition failure.

the newer design lock cylinders used on this model are prone to failure, u will need the dealer to replace the cylinder,the anti theft system must be programed to accpet new key, that is why it is a dealer job.

Try pressing the switch by hand and see if this turns it off, if so try some packing on the door where it contacts the switch
