Multiple misfire smells gas

Okay here's the 411 my wife owns a 2001 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 engine four door last few weeks we been noticing increase in gas consumption then one day we were just driving home all of a sudden the engine seem to be shaking quite badly and the check engine light was flashing and there was a strong smell of gas we rushed home and started diagnostics online searching scanner etc. here are the codes (see picture attached) First I thought maybe the spark plugs and spark plug wires I replaced the spark plugs and tested the wires and they are fine and no change next I thought maybe the coils I took an AutoZone to get tested they tested out fine could anybody please help me my wife has been laid off for over year and due to the lack of income we cannot afford a real mechanic and of course she is finally found a job working with disabled children but requires that she has a vehicle to transport them to their program schools etc "Suspicion of the coils being bad was due to the fact thatcoils two and three produce visible spark while one and four did not took both to AutoZone to betested they tested fine could have been wrong?

When you had the coils checked did you get the module checked as well? Is the car throttle body or multi port injection?

2002 Chevy Cavalier misfire

You may want to check for fuel volume and fuel quality. There may be moisture in the fuel. It would also help to know which cylinders it is misfiring on. Scan tool will show the misfire on live data.

2004 Chevy Cavalier - car cranks over but won't start

Well, let me try to say this without being too offensive.....
Your car only quit running on you once. I find it really hard to believe that all of the parts you replaced so far, needed to be replaced to get the engine running again. It is EXTREMELY UNLIKELY that all of these "failures" would occur all at the same time.

You would rather pay for $500+ in parts that the car apparently did not need, than to pay to have it towed to a shop where they have the knowledge, training and equipment necessary to properly diagnose the vehicle and get it running again? And now you want someone to tell you what is causing the problem with your vehicle without the benifit of any diagnostic testing?

There is NO WAY that ANYONE can accurately tell you what is wrong with your vehicle without following the correct diagnostic procedures recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. The most anyone can do online without proper diagnosis and testing is GUESS! You seem to be doing that very well on your own.

My 2004 Chevy Cavalier started acting up a couple of weeks ago.It has a 2.2 Ecotec engine and about 94,000 miles on it.Whenever i would let off the gas to decelerate the RPM's would drop down to about...

Hi, I would try replacing the crankshaft position sensor. This sensor sends the signal the computer uses to time your sparks. It costs less than $20 and is easy to replace. It's mounted on the engine block with one bolt--just above the oil pan. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

RPM run high and slow to drop down

There could be two problems i can think of here. First would be a computer problem. The computer might be telling the car to run at a high speed. A problem like this might be fixable from your local garage. A problem like this could be expensive. Second, as engines age, they natually tend to idle higher. This is a normal occurance. This is accompanied by a decrease of gas mileage. For me, i went from normal 26mpg down to around 22mpg. A problem like this can be fixed by using fuel additives aimed at high mileage cars. I have used fuel injector cleaners, and that has brought my car back to her glorydays of 1996. I hope this helps, if not let me know.

Multiple cylinder misfires 2001 Dodge Intrepid

If the engine is not missing now or running rough,The code may be an old one stored in the computer,
The code for Evap usually comes from someone getting gas and not tightening the fuel cap so it clicks at least four times.
