SOURCE: how to fit hardie spliser to prop shaft

They need to be driven out. Put the driveshaft on the ground with a socket slightly larger than the cup in the hardy splicer under it. Then get a punch as near to the size of the cup as you can. Drive down the top cup with a hammer which will push out the other out. Do this with all four. When replacing be carefull with the needle bearings they dont come out of the new cup's.

Will a 96 firebird one piece drive shaft fit in a 94 camaro that has the 2 piece nightmare.?they measure the same length.

while they might measure the same length , what you have to watch for is the tail shaft hitting under the floor at full deflection of the diff if it is not independent suspension
If the diff id mounted to the body then the next problem is the length of the one piece shaft
If the shaft is too long they tend to bend in the middle under load ( acceleration or high speed) and to overcome this the shaft is made in two pieces
All tail shafts have a maximum length for manufacture ( hardie spicer page on the net will have the specifications)
As it is cheaper to make a one piece shaft, there is an engineering reason why the extra expense of a two piece shaft is used

Replace drive shaft carrier bearing

IF by pieces you mean "U" joints . They will only need replacing if they are show looseness in the joint or rust streaks coming out of the cross seals. The following are points that you have to be very careful off . The ears ( that part that holds the "U" joints) have to ne on the same plane on assembly . On a one piece tail shaft where the sliding spline goes into the back of the gear box that is not much of a problem but if you have a centre bearing then it is critical that you get it right. when you remove the flange from the shaft to replace the bearing the flange has to go back on in exactly the same plane as the joint at the front of the same shaft. That is to say if you place the shaft on a flat surface and the ear on the shaft is vertical then the flange ear has to be vertical as well. What it amounts to is that crosses go through a phase of speed up---slow down cycle and if you have the joints out of phase the cross of one end that is speeding up is not cancelled out by the other end which is slowing down. The end result will be a harmonic vibration the will start about 30mph get really bad at about 60mph and decrease as you go faster . Unfortunately it doesn't disappear just destroys the "U" joints and the shaft and diff and gear box bearings. There are sites on the net that have photos and diagrams that will show what I am trying to say ( hardie spicer u joints and shafts)

I have a 1995 GMC Sierra extended cab 2 Wheel Dr. 5.0 have vibration replaced everything in the front and tires trued wheels check for being bent nothing everything is okay but found out if you get a load...

The drive line angles are at fault and they come less of a problem when the diff angle is changed from the load. If you have a centre bearing in the drive shaft then the height at which it holds the bearing will have something to do with your problem. basically the angle that the gear box flange sits (say 2 degrees from vertical) has to be the same as the flange at the centre bearing flange as the same as the diff pinion flange . If the centre bearing is too high then the angle at that flange will be less than the 2 degrees and a harmonic vibration begins . Have an engineering shop that specialises in tail shaft manufacture (Hardy Spicer) check it out for you and they will explain what I mean. There are web pages that have detailed diagrams to help. Just go google and type in tail shaft vibrations and faults.

Front drive shaft has a bad grinding noise and the rear seal has cracked and the bearings are exposed and all the grease has leaked out. do i need to replace the entire shaft and what is the diffuculty and...

If you are talking about only the drive shaft joints being bad, take it out and take it to a driveshaft repair shop. Look in the yellow pages or call a trans shop and ask who they use to check, straighten and balance drive shafts. About $150.00 and may do it while you wait. Might as well put new joints in the rear one and balance while your there.
