SOURCE: 1988 chevy corvette headlight repair

attach a string around the copper wire attached to the brush, place the brush back in the slot and pull both ends of the string out the side of the motor and tape securely, do the same with the other side. Work quickly before the tape lets go of the string.

What causes an 1987 Oldsmobile not to start after you change your distributor cap

Did you replace the rotor in the middle of the distributor? You also have to re-do the timing if you moved the distributor itself.

Can i clean the inside headlight glass of mercedes e class

Not easily. According to Mercedes, NO. But some detail shops have come up with a brush (similar to a baby bottle brush) that you pull bulb and insert brush. Check with a local detailer.

How do you remove the heater motor from a merc 300d 1993

The heater motor is beneath the windscreen wiper. 1) remove the rubber edge strip that runs across the engine bay separating the the engine from the battery on one side and the brake servo on the other. 2) at the back of the engine bay the middle panel is held on by large plastic finger tightened nuts, remove these and lift out the panel. 3) loosen the rubber strip to the base of the windscreen and surrounding the windscreen wiper mechanism. 4) remove the screws that holds the plastic guttering along the base of the screen. 5) be aware of clip underneath at the inner part of the guttering where it meets the surround to the central wiper unit cowl. 6) remove the top four screws and two on the underside of the cowl and lift away. Undo the 4 bolts (10mm) that hold the wiper motor frame and remove the clip that holds it in the middle to the bulk head lower down. Disconnect the motor and lift away. 7) you now have access to the heater motor, it held by three screws. Disconnect the electrical connector and lift it out. On my own car I had a situation where the heater motor would come on or work faster as I turned left but went off or slowed right down when I turned right. Both the carbon brushes has become fixed in their passageways and the slight shift of the motor spindle in the bearings either made or broke the electrical contact between the now fixed brushes and the armature. A simple removal of the brushes to clean and lubricate has ensured no further incidence.

I need to change the alternator brushes on 2000 ford taurus wagon

its kinda complicated and usually not something you should do unless experienced. first take out the four thru-bolts, and seperate the drive end frame and rotor assembly from the stator assembly by prying apart with a screwdriver at the stator slot. the fit between stator and frame is not tight, and the two can be separated easily. note that the seperation is to be made between the stator frame and drive end frame.after disasembly, place a piece of tape over the slip ring end frame bearing to prevent entry of dirt. to hold stator securely in the end frame, insert two thru-bolts through clearance holes of end frame with the heads resting against the shoulder of the stator frame. fasten stator holders onto the threaded ends of thru-bolts and hand tighten. when slip ring end frame assembly is separated from the rotor and drive end frame assembly, the brushes will fall down onto the shaft and come in contact with the lubricant. remove the brush holder assembly from the end frame by detaching the two brush holder assembly screws. also to get the correct angle, after you install the new brushes, wrap a piece of emory cloth or course grit sand paper around slip rings where the brushes contact and manually turn shaft. if you have any more questions let me know and i'll be glad to help you.
