Low beam headlight stays on permantly

Low beam on land rover discovery 3 stays on all the time even when the lights and the car are switched off. diagnostic machine can find no fault

    no relay for the headlights in the fuse box, in engine or in the fuse box behind the glove compartment. Is there any anywhere else?

Could be that the low beam relay is stuck. If you can locate the relay usually in a fuse box in engine compartment ,remove it and see if lights go out.

SOURCE: where is the headlight sensor locted on a LR Disco 3

it is located in the interior rearward facing mirror,it is a little black spot you can just see through the windscreen(when it goes wrong,it is too expensive to replace,live without.)

Headlight relay for land rover discovery 1


Have you considered the bulbs in both the headlamp and the high beam indicator have both blown?

If you remove and check the headlight bulb first this may help resolve the problem.

1999 Land Rover low beam headlights do not work. I've changed the bulbs, nothing. Is it something wrong with the switch maybe?


There is usually a relay between the lights and the switch.
Maybe you could trace the wires back from the lights to find the relay.

A 2000 Land Rover Discovery's internal brake light indicator is flashing from time to time or staying on and wondering if the brake fluid level is ok then could it be the brake light switch needs replacing...


well, yes it could mean the fluid is low,why dont you check it.If u need help for this go no further with your own repair inquiries.. another common thing is sticky rear parking brake cables if u have drum brakes on the rear

Low beam headlight will not come on but high beams work. Have been told tha the bulbs are good and they were replaced last month.


I would start at the fuse or relay, typically there is a separate fuse/relay for low and high beams. If that checks out I would look at the light switch, also check to see that there is power at the socket and that the lights are properly grounded.
