Question about 1998 Ford Mustang

1998 Ford Mustang battery/ electric fuel pump / OR?

Have a 1998 Ford Mustang. Took the battery out for the winter (on charger all winter). Now we have reinstalled the battery - it turns over good BUT will not start. Could it be a computer problem in the car or maybe the electric fuel pump? Any ideas?

Yes, reset fuel reset switch in truck of car. There is a fuse for fuel pump in engine bay. Lightly grease ignition key and work into ignition switch. A chipped key needs to be recognized by the anti-theft device built into your car. A worn key or dirty ignition has less contact and signal is not sent to the anti-thief device that unlocks the spark to the plugs (powering up).

Have you checked for spark at the plugs and the fuel pressure ?
Can you hear the pump run for 3 seconds when you turn the key on ?

SOURCE: Ford Escort 1998 fuel pump not working.

good old ford lol, try looking at the crank sensor its located at the front of the engine tucked in right hand side of exhaust manifold and gearbox, two pin plug, i have also known these to have no end of faults with the fusebox.
easy to remove, and solder the connections inside they all suffer eventually, if your not to handy with cars i recommend taking to a auto electrician, easy if you know how. Good luck Davelee

SOURCE: My 1998 ford mustang v6 3.8l .. is hard to start

So what you saying is it's hard to start cold right? Something in computer system not allowing excess fuel to injectors when cold. Probably sensor Get auto electrician to sort it out otherwise you end up replacing things that there is nothing wrong with They got the right gear

locking & unlocking the doors will reset the anti theft.
Or disconnect battery for an hour and see if it resets.
