SOURCE: tempreture gauge on hot, but engine is not over,

You are experiencing the dreaded gauge cluster problem. Most Impala's
2003-2005 have it. Can be any or ALL gauges. GM has known about it for years but will NOT cover the repair. Gonna cost you about $400.00. Check other WEB sites and you will find you are one of thousands who have had this problem

Temp gauge not working

Year/make/model?? Possible temperature sending unit failure. If a single wire sensor, unplug and the guage should read cold. Directly ground the wire to the sensor and the gauge should read hot, indicating the gauge and wiring to it are operational. If this procedure is ok, suspect a temperature sending unit failure

Heater blows cold air and the temperature guage reads cold after driving for 20 minutes

Best case scenario is your thermostat is stuck open. When this happens the engine will take a long time to warm up and will never get up to full temp. Worst case could be a serious problem such as a blown head gasket. If there is no coolent in the engine the temp gauge will not register either.

Temperature gauge on 2000 catera is staying on cold as if caris not heating up

If it is actually warm, but the gauage has not moved, you probably have a bad temp sensor that feeds the guage. On some cars there are 2 temp sensors, 1 for the computer to it knows how much fuel to give based on coldness, and one for the guage that just shows you in the dash what the temp is. The other 2 ideas would be a bad gauge and a bad wire/cable from the sensor to the gauge. There is not much else it could be if in fact the reading is wrong.

My oil pressure guage is at the upper safe limit when at idle and tops out when I am moving. Is this a guage issue or a mechanical issue requiring immediate repair?

It could be a bad gauge or a check valve could be stuck or blocked causing your oil pressure to be too high. Have your oil pressure checked at a shop.

Pull the connecting wire off the temperature sensor and ground it to see if the guage goes up. If it does then your sensor unit is faulty and must be replaced!

Cannot read trouble codes on 1994 chevy caprice

Only thing you can do yourself is to pull off the connector on the computer and check pins for corrosion. If you can get another computer on "loan" you might try plugging it in. though its somewhat rare (it should be) computers do fail. On older cars you can likely get a replacement in any scrap yard. sorry I can't help more, but with no readings, everything points to what I've said. You should also check ignition switch to amke sure power is coming out of there to remainder of system.

Tempreture gauge drops to cold and car stops

Sounds like faulty engine temp sensor. When it drops to cold, the engine control unit picks this up and alters the fuel mixture accordingly. The ECU will be making it a very rich fuel mixture for cold starting, hence very poor running when engine is hot.

Tempreture Gauge

I had the same problem or more so that my temp would run cold for miles and miles then go to normal and drop. It was my glow plugs. They needed to be changed. My boyfriend changed them himself in 10 minutes after I had been quoted 2 HOURS for labour!!
