It wont start

It was running hot so i pulled over and it stalled out. has nt started since .

the wire from the horn is part of an imobiliser so it wont start replace wire it sounds like imobiliser battery or alarm pad if wont turn off

SOURCE: 1996 ford ranger has crack in radiator. starting to stall is this a coincidence

1) Replace the radiator, it won't get better and will cause BIG problems later on, the plastic and aluminum radiators are fairly cheap (check rock auto for price)
2) Replace the TFI (thick film ignition) module mounted on the side of the distributor. Very common problem with Ford ignition systems
Something in the module opens when it gets hot, then works fine when it cools off. It's like someone turns the key off while driving, no warning, sputtering etc.You will need a thin wall 5.5 mm socket to change the module. Most auto part stores have a special wrench setup just for changing the module and it only costs a couple of bucks and makes the job a breeze. make sure you put plenty of dielectric grease on the mounting side of the module for proper installation (usually included with the module)

Did they figure out if you are loosing fuel or spark when it fails to start up ? You would need to know which to proceed.

Engine runs for about 10-20min and stalls. will


possible ignition coil pack breaking down when hot....cools off and works again. pull plug wire off plug and check for spark when in this no start condition.vehicle must have air, fuel and spark to run.

sounds like coil problem, coils will start cold then get hot and stop. when coil cools will crank up and run till it gets hot, try to replace the ignition coil,dont think it would be a crank sensor, try a coil,thanks robert b.

1999 grand prix will sometimes start, then stalls


first i would check or replace the fuel filter. then check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail, and fuel pressure regulater. how many miles?

My 97 buick runs cold stalls when hot wont start for 1 hour


Sounds like it is fuel related. Ck fuel pressure to be sure. Also ck the pressure regulator on the fuel rail, It is a small metal cylinder at the end of the fuel rail to ck pull to vacumn line off (hot not running after shutting the engine off). If there is fuel in the vacumn line it is bad. Good luck
