I have a 2007 vw jetta 5 triptonic. When I am driving a message beeps on the dash that my driver door is open and when I am parked the alarm keeps going off. I took it to vw mechanic and they said its the...

Where is the switch for the door that turns on the overhead lite. This is the problem. The switch is jammed telling the car the door is open, also setting off the alarm. I do not know where the switch for your car is( I do know the problem), I have replaced several over the years on other peoples cars. If the switch is connected to the lock, then yes it will have to be replaced. You can check a Chilton's manual on your car, to find out where it is. This will let you know if you can trust the mechanic, or get a second op ion from another mechanic. If the book shows it to be a simple job, do it yourself and save about $80.00 an hour. I hope this helps you
