SOURCE: 2008 pontiac torrent back hatch lock won't unlock

can you get it open at all? or can you get to it? it sounds like it's simply frozen. if you can get to it the simpliest thing would be to spray wd40 on the part that spreads. you'll need to give it a minute then spray it again to make sure it gets in good. now, if you can open it, do so, the spray it with the wd40, wipe if down some, work the mechanism then spray again. this should loosen and help it work . unless you've been hit and the thing was jammed somehow it should do the job. good luck & God bless,

2003 gmc envoy starts shifts into drive but wont move not transmission

If you're sure it's shifting into drive or lower gears and it's not moving, there can only be 2 other options #1 ujoints in drive shaft are broken and not letting the driveshaft turn or #2 the rear differential (rear end) is shot. Have someone look under the truck while you have the truck in gear and see if the driveshaft is turning...REMEMBER>>>DO NOT LAY UNDER THE TRUCK< STAY CLEAR OF WHEELS....don't want to get injured.

I had a squeaking noise coming from the rear of my truck when i started to accelerate after braking at a stop sign i replaced the pads, go the rotors reglazed and replaced the drivers side rear caliper...

Sounds like a ujoint is frozen in the rear driveshaft.Remove the rear driveshaft(block the wheels so it does not roll on to you).check the joints, there should be no play and you should have very little resistance when rotating the joint. It is most likely the joint at the rear axle.

2004 F250 superduty rear driveshaft is vibrating all new joints and hanger is there a special way the 2 piece shaft is supposed to go back together

When you pull the driveshaft to change Ujoints you were suppose to mark the flanges and reassemble the shaft with the same marks lined up. If you did not mark them possibly the grease or rust from the failed joint has spotted the flange. If you see the grease or rust marks are not together, you will need to "clock" the joint and reassemble so the marks line up.

If you threw the driveshaft when the Ujoints let go, then you could have bent it or knocked off a weight. You may have to take the driveshaft into a shop for rebalancing. Another trick, is to use a Radiator clamp for a weight and trial and error it.

I hope this helps you with your problem.

Theres play in my front drive shaft. I dont know if its the u joint or the rear end going into the transfer case. what is the most in expensive way to fix problem. problem is when braking accasionally feel...

the cheapest way would be to remove the front driveshaft I guess... This will give you opportunity to inspect the Ujoints too!
If it is only a Ujoint... you can replace the Ujoint and shaft when you have the money to do so...

How do i remove the drive shaft out o my 66 fairlane

Once you're under the car, Remember be safe, use jack stands, etc, You should have 4 bolts that connect the driveshaft to the yoke of the rear end. These will probably be really tight, you may need a cheater bar to break them loose. Once the rear of the drive shaft drops down then you should be able to pull the driveshaft straight back, toward the rear and it should drop out of the rear of the transmission. You may have some tranny fluid leaking out. While doing this you want to handle the Ujoints carefully so that you don't allow the caps to fall off, losing some of the needle bearings, unless you're going to replace the Ujoints. On that age of car, the driveshaft might be in there pretty tight so you may have to use some force, be careful. Good luck.
