SOURCE: saturn ac wont blow cold air

did you check if the cooling fans are working? this is very important, because they lower the pressure of the freon before passing throughout the expansion valve and getting into the evaporator, more pressure means highter temperature, , of course when you are driving the air flow throughout out the condenser lowering the freon temperature in the condenser and lowering the freon pressure at the high side, tha's way the temperature inside the car is lower ... you can have a similar problem if the condenser is partially plugged..hope this was very helpful...

SOURCE: 2001 Saturn L200 Air conditioner issue

You need to make sure the freon is correct,by having ac gauges put on the system,if the compressor is running the gauges will tell if there is a problem with the ac system itself, now,it can be the temp door actuator motor that is in the dash,if it is not moving the temp door open,it will need to be replaced.

I have a 2001 Saturn SL1, over 200,000 miles on it. I have two major problems with my car. 1. It over heats. I have replaced everything in the cooling system and still it over heats. Only when it is hot...

Does the electric engine cooling fan come on when the temperature rises? If not, it could be a bad cooling fan. Check for power and ground at the cooling fan connector. It could also be a cooling fan relay.

1993 Saturn SC-1 Cooling fan never turns on.

Does the car overheat at idle? If yes, first check fuse in fusebox in engine compartment. If fuse good, check for voltage at fan connector using test light with engine on and car hot. If no voltage, replace fan relay in engine compartment fusebox. If voltage is present, replace fan. Please reply with any additional questions.

My saturn sc1 is overheating the air conditioning start blowing hot and the car starts to overheat

Sounds like a case of a bad radiator elec. cooling fan motor, fan should come on with a/c on, if it don't, check fuses, if fuse ok, check for voltage at cooling fan motor, if you do have voltage, replace elec. cooling fan motor.

Air Conditioning doesn't work, only blows warm air

Have your boyfriend check to make sure there is enough pressure using the refill kit you got. If your kit does not have a pressure guage, get one that does. Your A/C compressor will not kick in if the pressure it too low. If the pressure is good, then it could be a number of things.
  1. Low pressure sensor (need professional to replace)
  2. Bad A/C relay (located in fuse box in engine compartment. Can be swapped with another relay in the box to test)
  3. Bad A/C diode (located near A/C relay, need multimeter to test, of you can just replace)
  4. Bad A/C compressor (apply 12 volts directly to the device to see if it engages, if not, it's bad and needs professional to replace)
With A/C, there are so many variables, but this is a good start.

A/C hot and cold air....

Technical Information: When the engine overheats (goes above 220 to 230 degrees), the ECM (Engine Contro Module) will disable the AC (won't let the compressor engage). This is a safety feature of the EMS (Engine Management System) to reduce potential damage to the engine from an overheat condition. Check your coolant level in the radiator & reseviore -- Low coolant level can produce the symptom you describe -- if low, top them off. Inspect your radiator hoses/cooling system for any signs of leakage (crusty deposits of dried coolant). Wherever you find this, that's where it's leaking. If you don't find any signs of leakage, replace the thermostat (& gasket if required (as a precaution) anyway. When the engine overheats, both cooling fans should come ON HIGH! If they aren't/don't, something's wrong and you need to find the cause. Every two to three years the cooling system should be flushed and inspected to ensure proper operation/condition and system protection. Overheating can seriously damage the engine. $$$$. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
